Chapter 10
In the end, after waiting for a long time, Finley only got Archie coming to pick me up from work.
Finley was furious, gritting his teeth. “Archie, don’t get too cocky. Today’s me is tomorrow’s you.”
Archie held up his beat-up phone, smiling innocently. He said, “You mean taking secret photos? Sorry, I don’t have your talent for landing in prison.”
Seeing that Finley couldn’t win me back, Penelope decided to take matters into her own hands and try to persuade me herself.
My assistant Mila Ferguson took several cans of herring to the hospital. Then Mila directly informed Penelope, “Miss Grant says she can’t bear sons. You’d better find another woman for your son. Also, she wanted to remind you that the hospital bill totals six hundred thousand dollars, and you need to remember to settle it promptly.”
Afterward, Mila reported back to me, “Penelope fainted on the spot after hearing this and was rushed to the emergency room.”
In the end, Finley was sentenced to prison.
After everything settled down, I took Archie to a friend’s party.
Archie was extremely excited. He finally gave up those basic clothes and put on a custom-tailored suit. Sure enough, Archie
At the party, Bonnie was so shocked to see Archie that she dropped her glass on the floor. She said, “Archie, what are you doing here?”
Then she pointed at me and Archie, “You two? Isabelle, is he your boyfriend?”
That’s when I learned that Archie was actually Bonnie’s cousin. He was the one who refused to study abroad, got cut off
financially by his family, and was different from everyone else in
the clan.
Bonnie patted her forehead and sighed, “Oh my God! You two are truly meant to be.”
Seeing that neither of us could remember, Bonnie got a bit anxious. She said, “You’ve met before.”
When we were in fifth grade, I went to play at Bonnie’s house after school one day. Archie’s mom happened to be getting a beauty treatment, so she left Archie at the Cameron mansion.
Bonnie’s mom asked Bonnie to bring out fruit for the guest, so Bonnie asked me to watch Archie first. She said, “He’s very stubborn, so don’t let him fall down.”
When Bonnie came back, she found me directing Archie to crawl on the ground like a dog. I was directing and clapping, “Good doggy, crawl two more laps.”

I vaguely remembered something like that happening. But I never expected Archie would pretend to be poor in front of me. I was still a bit angry.
Archie kept avoiding eye contact. He said, “But Isabelle, you never asked me.”
Then he put his arm around my shoulder and whispered, “Don’t be mad anymore, okay? How about you ride on my back again and let me crawl two laps?”
I suppressed my laughter and said coldly, “That depends on your performance tonight.”
