Chapter 3

The job fair was packed with people, and the entire campus was buzzing with activity.

I arrived pretty late, so I had to park off-campus and walk to the

gym.

As I passed the men’s dorm, someone suddenly called my name from behind.

Finley came running over in a hurry.

He said, “Isabelle, did you come here specifically to apologize to

me?”

Finley wore a smug expression on his face.

He smiled and said, “Actually, you didn’t need to make a special trip. My birthday’s coming up, and last time at the dealership, I noticed you were really interested in that Porsche Panamera…”

Finley stopped mid-sentence.

I cut off his hint and asked, “Finley, you’re a senior this Christmas, right?”

He froze, not understanding what I meant.

I said calmly, “Your classmates are all at the job fair. You should learn to stand on your own two feet too.”

Finley’s face instantly turned pale.

He asked, “Isabelle, what do you mean by that?”

I said flatly, “We’re done. Finley, take care of yourself from now

on.”

Finley’s voice trembled as he asked in disbelief, “Isabelle, are you kidding me?”

He stepped forward excitedly, trying to grab my wrist.

Just then, his roommate Albie Bell came out of the dorm:

“Finley, let’s go grab dinner together.”

Finley immediately pulled his hand back like he’d been shocked, even taking an instinctive step backward.

Albie saw me, and his eyes flashed with amazement as he nudged Finley with his elbow.

He said, “How could you do this? If you know such a beautiful girl, why didn’t you introduce us?”

Finley looked conflicted, unsure how to respond.

I smiled sarcastically and said, “I was just asking for directions. Sorry to bother you.”

I walked to the gym and saw Bonnie holding a stack of resumes, looking at me helplessly.

She said, “I clearly said we were only hiring girls, but tons of guys still handed in their resumes.”

Bonnie placed the resumes in front of me: “You screen through these first. I’m going to touch up my makeup.”

As I sorted through the qualified resumes, I couldn’t help but think about how tough job hunting was these days.

Suddenly, a large hand holding a piece of paper appeared in front of me.

A male voice said, “Hi, this is my resume.”

I glanced at the information on the resume.

This guy’s name was Archie Martin, 6’1″ tall.

His headshot was surprisingly handsome.

I looked up and met a pair of deep eyes.

Archie in person was even more striking than his photo.

He had an upright posture and outstanding presence.

Even in just a simple white T-shirt and hoodie, he looked better than any magazine model.

I said regretfully, “We’re not hiring guys.”

Archie smiled and said, “I’m not here to apply. Isabelle, I’m here

for you.”

Before I could figure out what was going on, he slowly leaned down, his tousled hair falling over eyes so deep you couldn’t see

the bottom.

His warm breath brushed against my ear.

Archie continued with a smile, “I saw you and Finley kissing behind the library. I have better grades than him, a better body, and more importantly, I’m more interesting. How about considering me?”

I raised an eyebrow slightly: “Why?”

Archie’s smile carried a hint of mischief.

He said, “Do you know Finley’s secretly dating another girl? He stole my spot, so I figured I should return the favor the same

way.”

I suddenly became interested.

I smiled and said, “Really? Then why don’t you show me what you’ve got?”

Archie took me to watch him play basketball.

He had great stamina, and his opponents couldn’t keep up him at all.

When Archie lifted his jersey, his abs were nearly perfect.

I followed him into the locker room and handed him a bottle of

water.

The next second, Archie pinned me against the wall.

He asked, “Isabelle, can you give me an answer now?”

I smiled and said, “How about we get to know each other a little

better?”
