Chapter 7
“What?”
Ryker’s face turned ashen, a sharp pain in his chest nearly suffocating him.
He gripped the edge of the table hard to keep from collapsing.
“Now!” he said through gritted teeth, enunciating each word: “Bring me the doctor who was supposed to deliver Harper’s babies! I want to question him face to face!”
Soon, the doctor was brought before him.
.
The moment the doctor saw Ryker, his face went white with fear. Trembling, he began: “I… I really didn’t know… Mrs. Westwood insisted on taking inhibitors, delaying the delivery… I advised against it, but she wouldn’t listen. She said only by waiting until after her due date would her children have a chance to survive…”
Before he finished, Ryker’s face had already turned a mottled green and white, his fingers cracking as he clenched
them.
‘Impossible…” His eyes filled with fear and unease as he kept shaking his head. “Were you bribed by Harper? Did she force you to lie to me? Sienna told me you delivered her baby and sent it to the nursery!”
‘Sienna?” The doctor looked completely confused. “I don’t know any Sienna. I’m Mrs. Westwood’s doctor.”
BOOM!
Like lightning striking his brain, Ryker staggered back several steps, barely able to stand.
‘Impossible…” he mumbled, his voice nearly broken. “Sienna told me she arranged the doctors…”
Suddenly, he exploded: “Investigate everything! Who’s lying? What really happened?!”
He ordered the bodyguards who had taken Harper away that day to be brought in for questioning.
The moment they saw him, their faces changed. They fell to their knees, repeatedly kowtowing and begging for
mercy.
‘Mr. Westwood… we were following Miss Matthews‘ orders! We wouldn’t have dared touch Mrs. Westwood and the
others without her command…”
‘What did you say?” Ryker jerked his head up, his gaze sharp as a knife. “What do you mean by Miss Matthews‘ orders? What are you talking about? Weren’t those women drugged and the abortions caused by Harper?”
‘Miss Matthews… it was Miss Matthews who arranged it all!” The bodyguard was so frightened he could barely speak coherently. “She said that since she’d already given birth to your firstborn son, those women and their babies

were useless now.”
“She even told us that you despised Mrs. Westwood, and now that she was pregnant with your children, you were already fed up. She said you ordered us to help you get rid of Mrs. Westwood’s babies.”
Ryker’s scalp tingled with horror, his voice hoarse as he asked, “Are you saying that when Harper was taken away that day… she was still pregnant?!”
“Yes…” The bodyguards frantically nodded in unison. “Miss Matthews also said you hated Mrs. Westwood’s father for taking credit for saving your life, and told us to throw him from the window to vent your anger. That’s why we ignored your text message and went through with it.”
Ryker stood frozen, then suddenly staggered backward, his entire face contorting.
“All of this was Sienna’s doing?!”
Suddenly, a horrifying realization hit him and he let out an agonized, gut–wrenching cry:
“So Harper was actually still pregnant! And I accused her of LYING to me!”
He finally collapsed to his knees, his fingernails digging violently into the carpet, looking like his very soul had been ripped out.
After a long moment, he suddenly clutched his head and broke down completely, sobbing uncontrollably.
“She… she was still pregnant! My children were still inside her! But because of Sienna’s fucking lies, I watched her suffer through labor, hemorrhage, and then I… I threw her in that goddamn basement and wouldn’t let ANYONE help her!”
Ryker stumbled frantically back home.
The mansion was eerily empty. Step by step, he descended into the basement, where the stench of blood immediately assaulted him.
ne place where Harper had been locked away was now empty, the cold cement floor stained with dark, congealed blood.
He fell to his knees, frantically clawing at the floor as if trying to dig the blood back into her body.
“Harper… Harper, where are you… please come out… I was wrong… I was so wrong…”
His wailing echoed through the empty basement, heart–wrenching and almost manic.
But the only response was silence.
Until a familiar yet cold voice broke through the stillness-
“Stop looking. Harper is long gone.”

Ryker’s body jolted as he turned to see his mother standing at the stairway, her expression severe as she pronounced each word:
“I’ve investigated everything. That Sienna Matthews was a complete fraud from the beginning.”
His eyes widened, his throat dry: “What are you saying?”
Mrs. Westwood slowly descended the stairs, her gaze filled with contempt for her son’s foolishness.
“She was never the daughter of the man who saved you. All those sob stories she fed you were complete bullshit. She’s just a stripper who’d sleep with anyone for cash, who happened to overhear someone talking about your accident and Harper’s situation, and saw dollar signs. She paid someone to fake her identity, bribed witnesses from back then, and conned her way into pretending to be your savior’s daughter.”
