Chapter 16
My words frightened Alston. He nervously shifted his gaze away, unable to look Alani in the eye.
‘Alani, wait. It’s not what you think…”
Alani actually knew so much!
He’d assumed she merely suspected his affair and had hired a private investigator.
Then the PI had captured some intimate moments between him and Ella, and that had broken Alani’s heart, prompting her to leave.
efore flying to Paris, Alston had already prepared his excuse: [Alani, you have to believe me, this is not what I want. It’s all Ella’s fault. She drugged me.]
I was out of it and thought was you on the bed. That’s why I slept with her. After that, she keep blackmailing me, threatening to tell you everything unless I ept seeing her. ]
I had no choice. I’m so afraid of losing you. Without you, I’d lose my mind!]
le planned to use this sob story to soften her up, then drop to his knees, apologize, and swear it would never happen again.
le was sure these words would appease her. Then he’d press his advantage, kneeling and tearfully offering:
As compensation, I’ll transfer all my assets to your name. If I ever cheat again, you can throw me out without a penny to my name!”
Iston was sure this strategy would work. Alani would forgive him as his thought.
ransferring his assets to her was no real sacrifice.
fter all, Alani couldn’t have kids without a uterus.
nce she forgave him and they got back together, wouldn’t everything end up with Edward and Lynn anyway?
ɔ whether the money sat in her name for a while or not, the end result would be the same.
1st a trick to get her back.
Alani, please, you have to believe me. I love you!”
ince she knew more than he expected, his prepared script was useless.
le had to wing it, making his explanation a mess: “Ella and I… it’s all her fault. She drugged me! I was totally out of it when it happened!”
Then she got pregnant. I wanted her to end it, but her dad got diagnosed with brain cancer and was dying. His last wish was to hold his grandchildren. If I had orced Ella to get an abortion then, I would have been pushing my mentor to his grave!”
You get that, right? I couldn’t be that cruel, so I had to let her have the babies.”
Actually, it works out perfectly when you think about it. You can’t have kids, so we can take Ella’s and raise them as our own. Win-win, right?”
