Chapter 14 Glanna, the Child Must Return to the Salazar Family

“Laurel.” Gianna nodded politely.

“It really was you!” Laurel walked quickly up to Gianna, her eyes full of anger. “You actually dared to come back? Let me ask you, where’s my grandson? What did you do with my grandson?”

Back then, when Laurel heard that her beloved little grandson was gone, she was so angry that she just fainted.

These five years, Laurel hated Gianna.

Seeing her at that moment, five years of pent-up anger just burst out.

Laurel reached out and grabbed Gianna, “Gianna, what happened to the baby back then? You didn’t get rid of the baby, you lied to us, didn’t you?”

Laurel was really emotional, even though everyone said Gianna had gotten rid of the baby.

But she still didn’t believe a mother could be so cruel as to get rid of her own seven-month-old baby.

‘Mom!” Rodrigo spoke up, “Grandpa wanted to see her, let her see Grandpa first.”

‘See Sir Salazar? Did she even have the nerve to see Sir Salazar? Back then, Sir Salazar cared about her so much, and what did she do? She left without saying a word, and Sir Salazar got really sick because of her.”

Paisley stood aside watching this, the corners of her mouth curling up.

She guessed early on that Gianna coming back would turn out like this.

Having an abortion, in Laurel, Gianna was basically committing a capital crime.

‘Laurel.”

A strong, energetic voice came through.

Everyone looked up and saw Leandro standing on the second floor with a cane.

Leandro looked at Gianna and said, “Gianna, come up.”

Gianna saw Leandro and felt even more guilty. She nodded, pressed her lips together, and went upstairs.

‘Dad! You were still protecting her? You knew how heartless she was back then.”

Leandro’s eyes were dark, and his face, which usually showed no emotion, was full of authority.

He glanced at Laurel. Laurel was angry, but she could only keep her mouth shut and didn’t dare question Leandro any more.

“Auntie, calm down.” Paisley gently patted Laurel on the back, “It’s not worth getting mad at people like that. Be careful not to hurt your own health.”

Laurel took a deep breath. She knew Paisley was sensible, and her look at Paisley softened a bit. “Paisley, sit down for a while. I have something to ask Rodrigo.”

Paisley nodded obediently, “Okay.”

“Rodrigo, come with me.” Laurel called Rodrigo upstairs.

Upstairs, Leandro’s study.

Gianna stopped at the door for two seconds, then went in.

The old butler stood properly to the side. When he saw Gianna, he greeted her politely, “Young madam, you’re back.”

“Mm.” Gianna faced Leandro and called, “Grandpa.”

Leandro looked at her calmly, “You’re back.”

“Yeah.”

Leandro looked a bit older than before, but he still had that strong presence. Just one look from him was enough to make people rethink every step theyd just taken, wondering if they’d messed up.

The business legend back then really wasn’t just an empty title.

“Grandpa, sorry, back then 1…”

Leandro lowered his eyelids and shook his head, “Gianna, you didn’t have to say sorry to me. I knew it was Rodrigo who messed up back then. He was the one who owed you an apology first.”

“Grandpa saw what he did and already scolded him, but that divorce agreement you left back then, he didn’t sign.”

As he spoke, Leandro raised his hand, and the butler next to him took out the divorce agreement from five years ago and put it in front of Gianna.

Gianna frowned. She didn’t expect Rodrigo really didn’t sign the divorce papers.

Why?

He liked Paisley so much, he should’ve been dying to divorce and marry Paisley.

“Gianna, you left in a hurry back then. Now Grandpa wanted to ask you, is there still a chance between you and Rodrigo?”

Gianna shook her head when she heard that and said, “Grandpa, back then you wanted me to marry Rodrigo to repay my father’s kindness and give me someone to rely on for life, but Rodrigo didn’t love me. Staying in this marriage was torture for both of us. I didn’t want to stay with a man who didn’t love me, so, Grandpa, I’m sorry to let you down after all your kindness back then, but I just couldn’t keep going with this marriage.”

“You insisted on getting a divorce?”

“Right.” Gianna answered firmly.

Leandro nodded. He knew very well what Gianna was like.

Her leaving back then was already her decision.

“In the end, it was Rodrigo who let you down.”

Leandro raised his hand, and the old butler put another document in front of Gianna.

It was also a divorce agreement.

The difference was, the new one was drafted by Leandro.

“Gianna, Grandpa respected you, he didn’t force you to stay married to Rodrigo, take a look at this divorce agreement.”

Gianna picked up the divorce papers, her eyes showing more wariness.

She knew Leandro cared about her.

But Leandro, who had been shrewd all his life, didn’t love without limits.

Sure enough.

Back then, her divorce agreement was I don’t want anything, I just want a divorce.

And the divorce agreement Leandro gave her included 10% of the Salazar Group, one billion, a villa, and some shops in the city center.

This divorce compensation was downright extravagant.

But when Gianna saw the last line, the child’s custody goes to the man, her heart skipped a beat.

“Gianna, these were all the compensations the Salazar family gave you in the agreement.”

Gianna’s heart pounded. She put down the agreement. “Grandpa, the custody goes to the man? What kid?”

Leandro sighed, “Gianna, the Salazar family let you down. Grandpa would make it up to you as much as he could, but you couldn’t take the Salazar family’s child. The child had to go back to the Salazar family.”

Leandro’s voice was gentle and calm, like he was discussing things, but to Gianna, there was no room for discussion at all.

Leandro’s affection had its limits.

And the Salazar family descendants were Leandro’s bottom line.

He could guiltily make it up to her with a lot of money.

But the kid had to stay.

This wasn’t up for discussion.

Gianna stayed calm, her clear eyes looking at Leandro as she said, “Grandpa, you must be joking. I got rid of the baby back then. I don’t have a child.”

“Gianna, you could fool Rodrigo, but you couldn’t fool Grandpa.”

“Grandpa, whether you believe it or not, I really did have the baby aborted back then. I can’t sign this divorce agreement.”

Leandro quietly looked at Gianna. He wasn’t angry. “Gianna, you know Grandpa, and Grandpa knows you. Think about it some more. No need to rush your

answer.”

“Grandpa, not having kids was my answer.” Gianna’s attitude was clear.

Leandro saw it clearly. He was quiet for a while and didn’t push Gianna. “Alright, let’s not talk about this now. You just got back today. Grandpa asked someone to make your favorite dishes. Stay and have dinner with Grandpa.”

Gianna nodded, “Okay, Grandpa, I’ll go out first.”

Yeah, go ahead.”

Coming out of Leandro’s study, Gianna couldn’t calm down.

Gianna didn’t know if Leandro’s goal today was to test her or if he was 100% sure she had a kid.

she could only insist that she didn’t have a child.

Walking down the hallway, Gianna heard a conversation when she passed by a room.

‘Rodrigo, I always felt that Gianna didn’t get rid of the baby back then.”

was Laurel’s voice.

‘I was also a mother, I knew very well how hard it was to make a mother abort a seven-month-old fetus.”

Rodrigo spoke in a low voice, “I checked, she had been living alone all these years.”

‘Did you figure it out?”

“Yeah.”

Laurel shook her head and said angrily, “Then she was really heartless.”

Rodrigo stayed silent and didn’t say anything.

Laurel went on, “Anyway, we still had to keep an eye on her. What if she didn’t get rid of the baby? If the baby was still there, we had to bring it back to the

Salazar family and raise it. When you married Paisley, I believed Paisley was sensible and would raise the kid with you.”

Gianna felt a tightness in her chest.

They guessed whether she had an abortion or not. If she didn’t, she had to bring the baby back to the Salazar family, and they even wanted Paisley to raise her baby.

Gianna clenched her palm.

Linda took a bath and changed into clean clothes under the maid’s care.

Linda had just run out of the room when she saw Gianna.

Linda was really excited.

“Mommy…”
