Chapter 7
After being thrown out of the country by Ivor, I never thought about going back.
The remaining days, wherever I spent them, would make no difference.
After hearing the news of Ivor’s marriage, my best friend, Celine, contacted me.
The first thing she asked was,
“Where are you?”
I didn’t want to tell her at first.
But that girl, she’s so stubborn.
With an eight–month pregnant belly, she traveled to several places to look for me.
I had no choice but to compromise and go find her myself.
The moment I stepped off the plane, she saw me and burst into tears.
If it weren’t for the man beside her stopping her, she would have rushed over and hugged me tightly.
“Nina, how could that bastard Ivor treat you like this? How dare he!”
There’s nothing he wouldn’t dare.
I caused so much trouble in our love story from my side.
In his eyes, I might not even be as good as a stranger now.
To keep those foreigners from laughing at us,
I reached out and covered that big mouth of hers that was still wailing, smiling helplessly.
“You’re still so loud. I don’t know how Cedric puts up with you.
Cedric, you must have had a tough time all these years!”
The man’s gaze shifted away from me.
He chuckled and started complaining to me.
“Nina, right now, only you can rein her in. You should stay longer and help me manage her properly, saving me from this plight!”
Before Cedric could finish speaking, his arm was given a hard twist.
Despite her usually carefree demeanor,
Celine was actually very perceptive.
Noticing my poor mental state, she carefully supported me as we walked out of the airport,
as if I were the one who was pregnant.
The four of us grew up together since childhood.
Back then, our weddings were even held simultaneously.
Later on, Cedric took charge of the overseas branch company, and Celine, as his wife, had to go with him.
Celine didn’t want to be separated from me and even tried to persuade me, suggesting that Ivor come along too.
At that time, the Bolton family happened to have a project abroad.

Chapter 7
I was indeed tempted by the idea.
But as soon as I mentioned it, he cut me off with a cold glance.
Without the slightest hesitation or any hint of tact,
Ivor said that if I wanted to go, I could go alone.
Back then, I didn’t understand.
Why could Cedric be willing to stand up against his family for Celine, while Ivor couldn’t do the same for me?
With over a month left until Celine’s due date, I took out the small medicine bottle that I had brought along with me when I left home.
I held it in my hand again.
Nina, just hold on a little longer.
At least until after Celine gives birth.
Every day, I started forcing myself to eat, even though I’d end up vomiting it all up the next second.
When Celine was nine months pregnant, she proposed more than once that I should go to the hospital with her.
Because at that point, I was too thin.
So thin that one glance was enough to tell that something was seriously wrong with me.
Fortunately, I knew her well.
I managed to brush it off by using the excuse of being heartbroken over my divorce from Ivor.
That day, I was hunched over the toilet, throwing up violently.
There was a knock on the door.
I thought it was Celine, but to my surprise, it was Cedric.
A faint smell of alcohol emanated from him, and he stared straight at me with a cold expression.
It was quite different from his usual aloof yet gentle demeanor.
But the next moment, it seemed like it had all been my illusion.
Cedric in front of me had returned to the familiar person I knew.
Only this time, his voice trembled slightly.
‘Nina, are you sick?”
