The Alpha’s Borrowed Luna
Chapter 218
The pain in my abdomen faded completely, replaced by a floating sensation. “I don’t feel it anymore.”
“Of course you won’t. I’ll prefer it if you look away.” The sorceress was moving around the bed now, her hands quick and practiced as she readied for the procedure.
“I want to believe you know what you are doing,” Kaius said, his voice tight with barely controlled anxiety.
“Of course.” Her confidence was absolute.
“Just so you know, if anything happens to her, you will not leave here alive.” The threat in his voice was unmistakable.
The sorceress didn’t even glance up. “It’s not a very good idea to threaten me when I have her life in my very own hands, Alpha and let’s say… I don’t die easily.”
I wanted to intervene, to tell Kaius to stop antagonizing the woman who was about to cut me open, but the potion had made speech difficult. I could only watch, oddly detached, as the sorceress began to chant.
“Discede ab ea, creatura noctis, filil diaboli,” she intoned, her voice taking on a resonant quality that seemed to vibrate in my bones.
She repeated the chant, her hands moving over my exposed abdomen in complex patterns. The temperature in the room seemed to drop, a cold breeze stirring from nowhere. I felt a strange tugging sensation deep inside, not painful but disturbing, as if something was being unwound from around my organs.
“Discede ab ea, creatura noctis, filil diaboli,” she chanted a third time, and the tugging intensified.
I felt a sudden release, a pressure I hadn’t even been aware of suddenly lifting. Through half–lidded eyes, I watched as the sorceress drew something from the incision in my abdomen–something dark and writhing, no larger than a small kitten but somehow radiating a presence far more significant than its size suggested.
The creature–demon, parasite, whatever it was–struggled in her grip, tiny clawed appendages flailing. It had no discernible features, just a mass of shifting darkness, yet I had the distinct impression it was looking at me. Recognition, perhaps even longing, emanated from it.
The sorceress moved quickly, placing it in a container of dark glass she’d prepared. “May the abyss absorb you, s murmured,, sealing the container with a complex sigil. “It is done.”
Only then did I notice the blood soaking the sheets beneath me. The incision was bleeding freely, my already weakened body losing precious fluid.
“She needs to be stitched, she’s losing blood,” the sorceress announced, stepping back.
“I’ll do it,” Kaius moved forward, taking the needle and thread Frost offered.
His hands were gentle but efficient as he closed the wound, each stitch placed with careful precision. Despite the potion dulling my senses, I could feel his touch–cool fingers against my feverish skin, the slight pull as the thread drew my flesh together. There was something intimate about it, something that made my heart flutter despite my weakened state.
When he finished, he stepped back, his expression troubled. “Will she be okay now?”
The sorceress was packing her things, the sealed container tucked safely in her bag. “She is free of the demon, but still weak. The transformation is complete; she is now truly a Turned One.” She glanced at me, her milky eyes somehow seeing more than they should. “The thirst will remain.”

Chapter 218
“That… that pain reliever you gave me earlier,” I managed to ask, fighting through the fog in my mind as the memory of its cold, metallic tang suddenly surfaced. “You mixed blood into it, didn’t you I must have been numb… I couldn’t taste it then.”
‘I did tell you it does better than any pain reliever. You might be healed up, but you still need to feed to regain your strength.” Her directness was almost brutal.
I’ll go get you something to eat,” Frost offered, moving toward the door.
“Not food… she meant blood.” Kaius’s voice was quiet but firm.
The sorceress nodded approvingly. “Since this creature can’t be killed, I’ll keep it contained,” she said, patting her bag. Her eyes shifted to Kaius, a strange smile playing at her lips. “I do hope to see you again, Alpha.”
“Thank you,” I called as she moved to leave, genuine gratitude mixing with relief that the ordeal was over.
After she left, Frost approached the bed, his ice–blue eyes scanning me critically. “How do you feel?”
“Better than I had felt in weeks.” It wasn’t entirely a lie. Without the demon draining my strength, I did feel somewhat improved, though still weak. “I don’t need blood. It might take some time for me to fully recover, but I don’t mind.”
“You do need it.” Kaius’s tone left no room for argument. He rolled up his sleeve, exposing his wrist.
I shook my head, remembering all too well the intoxicating taste of his blood, the way it had made me lose control. “I don’t want this… I am afraid I won’t stop.”
“You will.” His confidence was unwavering as he sat beside me, holding his wrist to my lips.
“You put too much trust in me.” I tried to turn away, but the scent of him–the rich promise of his blood just beneath his skin- made my newly sharpened canines extend involuntarily.
“Then Frost would be here to stop you, if I get too carried away,” he said, nodding to Frost who took up a position on the other side of the bed, ready to intervene if necessary.
The hunger that had been building since the procedure intensified, becoming almost impossible to resist. “Be careful, Kaius.”
“Of course.” His smile was gentle, understanding.
Giving in to the need that burned through me, I took his wrist, pressing my lips to his pulse point. For a moment I hesitated, caught between desire and fear. Then, with a swift, careful movement, I bit down.
