Chapter 6
Taken aback, both Rhea and I quickly turned to find Jaiden.
With a dark scowl on his face, he gripped the gamma’s wrist tight enough to make her flinch in pain. Rhea went pale in utter fear, her mouth opening and closing to try to form words. Knowing the alpha could break her wrist with his strength, I stood up and placed a hand on his shoulder.
“H–Hey, it’s okay,” I stammered, shocked by the grave expression on his face. “You don’t have to go this far-
“First question,” he muttered under his breath, cutting me off. “How long has this been going on?”
“What do you mean?”
“Sorry, Ma’am Vivi. This question isn’t for you
“I–I–I did nothing w–wrong!”
Rhea screamed out her answer, knowing full well that the question was intended for her. She was now shaking, her eyes watering from the pain. Jaiden tightened his grip, not at all pleased with how she outright denied what was obvious.
“P–Please, let me g–go!”
“I’d seen everything, you know. There’s no use lying,” he growled. “Or perhaps, you simply don’t care that I’m here. You don’t hesitate to badmouth your Luna in front of me, and even knowing that I’d be back any second, you’re treating her as though she’s a slave of the Silvermoon pack. So, tell me, how can I possibly believe you’re doing nothing wrong?”
“N–No, I–I’m.. I–I’m not.
His

flashed and sharpened, the slits of his pupils showing through. If this continued any further, he’s going to shift into a wolf and snap her arm off with his canines! He showed no sign of letting go, nor even a hint of having mercy.
“Jay, hey, listen!” I called out, reaching up to hold Jaiden’s face. This is not what you came here for, okay? I, too, want to know how I managed to survive this hellhole, but there is another way to do that, I’m sure. So, please don’t go around breaking bones now.

it and let go at last. With a loud, breathless wheeze, Rhea stumbled back until she hit the table and crashed to the floor. We both turned to her as she tried to stand back up in wobbly legs.
“Besides, I can handle her, I said with a sigh as I stepped away from Jaiden. “Just because you caught me earlier when I fell doesn’t mean you have to keep playing as my knight in shining armor. See that tea 1made for her? I could turn that into real poison.”
There was a moment’s pause as Jaiden looked at me with comically wide eyes. Then, suddenly, he started laughing out loud, making me jolt and Rhea freeze up. It was strangely comforting when Jaiden then gave me a gentle smile as his laughter subsided.
His once feral frightening eyes now held warmth and what I could only tell was fondness.
“Well said, Ma’am Vivi. Well said.
“Say, do you have a mate??
By the time things settled down, it was late afternoon. With how much of a mess the parlor had become, Jaiden and I had moved to the balcony of my room. Over a new tray of snacks and freshly brewed tea, we’d continued our conversation there.
“Huh? What?” Jaiden blurted out, surprised by my question. “I was asking if you already have a wonderful wifey who’s waiting for you back at home”
‘Oh No, I don’t. I’m single.”
“Really? How old are you?”
Now that we finished our discussion, I felt like asking him random things. I let him finish packing up his stuff first, then proceeded to guide him outside of the room. As we talked, we started making our way to the door downstairs.
Just a couple of years younger than Alpha Silvermoon. I’m twenty–eight
Twenty–eight Would And that guy is thirty?! Both of you look so young!”

I could not help but gape at him in awe and surprise while all he could do but stare at me. He then chuckled as I started gushing more about his youthful–looking appearance. I felt as if I was seeing some amazing human species.
“I can’t believe you’re still single, though! I mean, look at you! You’re quite the eye candy!”
Without stopping to see how embarrassed I was making Jaiden feel, I kept shamelessly saying things that most people would’ve just been quiet about
“You must be the type of guy who receives lots and lots of love confessions!
“Erm..” He looked uncomfortable.
“Oh! I was right! You’re so nice I bet ladies are falling for you left and right!”
Jaiden shared that he was not interested in romance. Not until he met his fated mate, at least. I respected that since I also saw mys dispassionate to my love life. Not that my twenty–four–year–old self cared about that, though.
myself as
Jaiden.”
Right after taking a step out of the house, a grandiose black limousine pulled out in front of us. The window from the passenger seat rolled down to reveal someone, but I couldn’t see them from where I stood.
“Good afternoon. Thank you for having me here,” Jaiden said, having already seen who the person was. “Are you going to take Luna Silvermoon home?”
“Yes. Where is she? I’ve got no more time to spare.”
“We just finished. If it’s alright, I’d like to go with you.”
*Did she give you trouble! I apologize if she ever-”
“No, not at all. Please, there’s no need to apologize.”
Whoever this was, I could tell they were not too fond of me. When I walked closer to take a look, I immediately regretted it. With the look of someone seeing an ugly creature from some intergalactic dimension, I cringed away.
“Yikes It’s His Scumbag Majesty
I had never been in such a painful position since I woke up in this twenty–four–year–old body of mine.
Not long after Chrysander arrived to bring me to the Silvermoon’s estate, I found myself riding with him in his jaw–droppingly luxurious vehicle, all tongue–tied and wide–eyed in astonishment Seated right in the middle of two stunning alphas, I remained completely still and silent, a bit intimidated by the fact that this scale of extravagance before me was barely the tip of the iceberg. As we drew nearer and nearer to our destination, the picture in my head was getting clearer and clearer. “My husband is indeed a very rich, very powerful, very influential person, huh?‘ I still hadn’t even recovered from my surprise either when the person himself appeared out of nowhere.
And he summoned yet another blizzard, what with him looking all icy as usual.
‘I just can’t believe this guy, I thought with a deadpan face. ‘He didn’t say a word to me yet–All he did was order us to get in, and off we go‘
Through the corner of my eye, I saw him nonchalantly looking outside of the window, his chin propped over his hand. It’s as if I wasn’t here at all. Not only was he completely ignoring me, but he seemed to have no plans of checking on my condition
‘It would not make a difference if Jaiden just took me home, then. I let out a small sigh before turning to look at the other side, where the other alpha was sitting quietly with a serious expression on his face. Is he going to tell him about what happened with Rhea earlier? Told him I could deal with it on my own, but….‘
He did seem like he’d turned back to work mode now. I found it a bit funny how he was acting as formal and emotionless as possible.
Or maybe this man’s blizzard got him all chilly too?” she mused to herself, smirking. Is he regretting riding with us now? I’ve got to thank him for coming alone, though I don’t want to be all alone with this human te statue”
Until today, we were always keeping things professional between us We never engaged in casual talks, but now that Jakden knew the truth about my living conditions, I started to open up to him a bit. At first, I thought he would eventually give in an it

But right now. I feel like I finally have an ally.
“Oh, right, Jay!” I called, finally breaking the silence as I remembered something.
“Jay. I heard Chrysander mutter behind me, but I didn’t pay him any mind.
“These are the snacks from earlier. Have some!” I offered as I pulled out a bunch of candies from my coat’s pocket. “You didn’t eat any. I noticed, so I brought some for you to take home.”
“H–Huh! It’s alright, Maam Jaiden shook his head at me, looking all flustered.
“You did a lot for me today, Jay. I want to pay you back somehow,” I insisted.
Flabbergasted, he only exchanged looks with me, though he appeared to be trying not to stare at me in the eye too much. His face was a little pink too. While it’s true that it’s childish for a grown–up woman to make a big deal about something like candies, I was being
sincere,
“Well then, I’ll just have this one,” he replied at last, picking a couple of mint–flavored candies, which made me grin. “Oh, yay! The caramels are mine!”
“What’s will all the fuss about some sweets? Are you a kid?”
What’s
At Chrysander’s sudden remark, my smile instantly dropped. His words were steely, and for some reason, so was the look in his eyes. To Jaiden, it probably didn’t mean anything, but I knew that look.
He seemed displeased by something other than me getting all excited about the candies.
“Seeing you like this, I feel the need to warn you that should never receive stuff like this from strangers so carelessly. You’re still a prestigious individual. For all you know, they had put something in there or were just after something from you,” Chrysander continued, and I now felt too annoyed to not speak up.
