Chapter 2
I went home and took a cold shower, but the phone rang urgently.
“Emma, did you cut off my mother’s medical payments?”
Hearing Ryan’s voice barely containing his rage, I calmly sipped some warm water.
He ground his teeth. “Emma, you’ve really crossed the line this time. You’re just pissed about what happened tonight, aren’t you? Fine. Fil apologize. Happy now?”
“You better reinstate my mother’s medical payments right now, or don’t blame me when I break up with you”
I couldn’t help but laugh coldly. In my previous life, I worked day and night paving the way for his future. To let him focus on swimming and chase that Olympic gold medal, I even pooled together my savings to pay for his critically ill mother’s expensive medical bills.
When his mother finally woke up, the first thing she did was encourage him to get together with Isla.
The team members even gave me the nickname “simp,” while he basked in sweet romance with Isla. All it earned me was a miserable death.
Thinking about this, I trembled with rage.
“Since you put it that way, Ryan, let’s break up. From today on, we have nothing to do with each other.”
I hung up without caring about his furious shouting.
This time around, without me shouldering his burdens, I was curious to see what would become of him.
He had already drunk that cup of cold medicine Isla prepared. This competition would end his career!
The competition venue was packed with spectators.
I scanned the crowd and quickly spotted several familiar faces–Ryan’s obsessed fans. Among them was the radical fanatic who had poisoned me to death in my previous life.
Only when I died did I learn that Isla had deliberately leaked my address and training schedule, secretly letting this fan into the swimming complex to give her the chance to poison me!
This fan had once worshipped Ryan for his swimming skills. I wondered how she’d feel when she discovered her idol had taken performance–enhancing drugs.
Isla stood beside Ryan, her face full of concern as she wiped the sweat from his body.
“Ryan, you’ve got to give it your all!”
Ryan’s eyes were filled with tenderness as he promised softly, “Once I win the gold medal and earn enough from endorsements, I’ll take you traveling. To that island we never made it to last time, okay?”
Isla smiled sweetly, hugging Ryan with fake intimacy, but her triumphant gaze locked onto me.
Ryan turned and gave me a cold look, sneering contemptuously. “Emma, if you want me to acknowledge you, fine–reinstate my mom’s medical payments first.”
I couldn’t be bothered to respond. In the past, when I suggested traveling together, he always made excuses. Now he could easily promise Isla the same thing.
I found it laughable. Would he still treat her this way once he realized that Isla’s cold medicine had destroyed both his years of hard mother’s desperately needed medical funds?
The referee’s whistle sounded. The starting signal–the race began.
Ryan launched himself into the water. The entire venue erupted.

Isla took the opportunity to move a few steps closer to my position.
“See? Without me, Ryan wouldn’t have this much energy.”
I stared coldly at the four athletes I had once coached. In my previous life, Ryan hadn’t drunk that cup of medicine Isla prepared, and our team will secured the championship easily.
But now…
“He won! Ryan’s amazing!”
“Ryan! Ryan!”
The fans cheered as Isla immediately rushed over to embrace Ryan.
Reporters swarmed in, surrounding the team members, eager to hear them share their thoughts.
But the next second, the athletes suddenly said in unison, “Right now, we just want a new coach.”
The entire venue erupted in shock.
