Zina narrowed her eyes as she continued, “Andy is hiding something from us, and it’s serious.”
Zina fixed a resolute gaze on Wade..
But Wade had already lowered his head, the shadows beneath his brow obscuring his thoughts, making him appear even
more inscrutable.
After a long pause, Wade let out a heavy sigh. “Let’s at least try to revive him first. You know, I’m old enough.
“What I want most now is to unlock the mysteries of brain research. Now that I finally have a test subject, I’m willing to take the gamble.
“I’ll perform the surgery, Zina made the definitive call. “You watch the monitors outside. You know my capabilities. If anyone can pull this off, it’s me.”
Wade fell silent for a few moments, then gave a solemn nod of approval.
The surgery was scheduled for that afternoon. To Andy’s surprise, the arrangements went so smoothly that he simply canceled all his business meetings and waited exclusively at the hospital.
The door to the operating room swung open, and a female figure stepped out. Andy stood frozen in place, utterly stunned.
Andy stammered, eyes wide in disbelief, ‘M–Miss Sinclair, you’re the one performing the surgery?”
“Yes, it’s me,” Zina replied. “Mr. Sylvan is getting on in years, so this type of surgery can be quite strenuous for him. He’s here
to assist me”
No sooner had Zina finished explaining than Wade emerged, clad in an assistant’s scrubs.
Andy’s face cycled through a series of expressions before he managed a forced smile that was more like a grimace. “Maybe we should reconsider?” he added hastily, “Not that I doubt Miss Sinclair’s skills–I’m just being cautious.”
“Don’t worry, Mr. Wood. Miss Sinclair’s medical skills are every bit as good as mine. You can trust her completely,” said Wade.
Wade cut in before Andy could protest further, leaving the man speechless. Helpless, Andy watched as the two entered the operating room in succession, Zina leading the way.
The driver lay on the bed, deprived of IV sustenance, resembling a corpse more than a living man.
His ashen complexion and emaciated frame bore silent witness to the unspeakable torments he had endured.
The scalpel sliced through the skin. Zina’s gaze locked onto every intricate vascular structure in the man’s skull–one wrong move, and it would mean catastrophe.
Sweat soaked his scrubs, and the intense work had left even Wade visibly exhausted. Yet the woman before him remained incredibly steady, as if only a few minutes had passed.
An anomaly caught Wade’s attention. His gaze sharpened as he scrutinized Zina’s every move with growing intensity.

Completely absorbed in their work, the two were utterly unaware that chaos had erupted outside the operating room.
A man snapped, “How dare you let unauthorized personnel perform surgery here?
“All doctors have said that a vegetative state is already the best possible outcome. Yet you insist on performing unauthorized surgery here—and you’re not even affiliated with our hospital. If anything goes wrong, we won’t take responsibility.”
He stormed in, furious, The second I step out, you stir up such a colossal mess. Do you have any idea what kind of place.
this is?”
The man’s face flushed crimson with fury, his salt–and–pepper hair accentuating his age as his chest heaved with rage.
And those being reprimanded hung their heads, not daring to utter a single word.
Gus Logan was always a man of great composure, rarely erupting in public outbursts. This uncharacteristic tirade alone underscored the sheer gravity of the situation.
Even Andy could only force an ingratiating smile and try to placate Gus in a conciliatory tone, “Mr. Logan, please don’t be upset.
“The surgeon inside is Wade–someone I’specially invited from Jorvellan. You may have heard of his reputation.”
Upon hearing this, Gus’s eyes lit up. “Really?”
“Absolutely.” Andy nodded profusely.
Gus’s anger finally subsided. He pulled out his phone and made a call. “All of you, get to the sixth floor immediately. There’s a major surgery in progress–a live demonstration. Hurry” he said.
