Chapter 112
It was a small, stiff note, crumpled into a wad and tucked into Zina’s pocket.
It must have been the person who had just bumped into her.
Zina whirled around, but the vast lobby was completely deserted.
“Let’s go.” Zina said. Forcing a strained smile, she walked straight outside without hesitation.
Andy was quite generous; he had made sure their every need in Springvale was well taken care of.
Zina was quite pleased with this and boarded the pre–arranged vehicle.
She had barely settled into her seat when Wade’s voice came from the passenger seat
“Zina,” he said with concern. “I’ve noticed you haven’t been yourself these past couple of days. You’ve known it for a while. haven’t you?”
“What?” Zina’s grip on the steering wheel tightened as she instinctively turned to look at Wade.
Wade frowned deeply, but still repeated himself. “Ever since we arrived in Springvale, I’ve felt you’re not yourself.
“I can tell you don’t like Andy, and I suspect there’s something even more pressing weighing on you. I may be an old and not understand young folks‘ affairs, but I’m not foolish.
“If there’s anything you want to say, you can tell me. I mean you no harm.”
After such heartfelt words, Wade was filled with a swirl of emotions.
He simply gazed at Zina with his clouded eyes, pursed his lips, and chose to say nothing more.
The small car, already cramped, was now entirely consumed by a heavy, oppressive silence.
“Nothing’s wrong. Zina said, forcing a smile. “You’re overthinking it. Just a bit tired lately. Let’s head to the hotel first.
The rest of the ride passed in silence. Back at the hotel, Zina immediately bolted the door, headed straight for the innermost bed, and began removing the decorative pieces from her clothes, her fingers flying with practiced ease.
Within minutes, a small detection device took shape in her hands.
man
Thank heavens for her habit of carrying disassembled components as fashion accessories–otherwise, she’d really be in a tight spot today.
After fine–tuning the device’s accuracy, Zina began sweeping the room with the detector.
The closet lit up.
The power strip lit up.
The vanity lit up.

Chapter 112
The nightstand lit up.
True to form, this tiny room tumed out to be wired with no less than seven surveillance cameras.
Zina’s lips twitched involuntarily. “Wow, Andy really thinks I’m that important–seven cameras just to keep tabs on me?’ she thought.
Zina whipped out her phone and, with a few quick taps, hacked into the surveillance feed, altering the footage in seconds.
Seeing the cameras now running her custom program, Zina let out a sigh of relief. Pressing her lips together, she dialed a
number.
As soon as Chris’s voice came through, Zina exhaled a deep sigh of relief, a genuine smile finally gracing her lips.

“I’m still in Springvale,” Zina said, “See if you and your team can come over today.”
“You got it, Boss. I’ll head out in an hour, Chris replied.
Chris’s grip on his phone tightened, a slight tremor running through him.
‘Boss has never called me with such urgency before; this must be a tough one, he thought.
At that thought, Chris quickly picked up the phone he had just hung up and dialed the Base.
“Get me some men. Now. Immediately, he ordered
Meanwhile, still lying on her plush bed, Zina, gently closed her eyes. The quiet of the room surrounded her, and she felt as if something was quietly taking root in her heart.
The sudden knock at the door snapped Zina out of her thoughts.
She hurried to open it, only to find Wade’s weathered face looking back at her.
