Chapter 36
Zina’s gaze
was calm as she glanced at the man on the floor, who was clutching his hand and struggling to get up. A small smile played on her lips.
“Like I said, if there’s nothing else, I’m leaving. You were in my way.“”
“You’re just a servant! How dare you treat your master like this! Don’t you know Kyle could have you fired on the spot?”
Rosie’s face was flushed, her chest heaving as she pointed an accusing finger at Zina.
It was the first time Kyle had seen Rosie so assertive. For a moment, he forgot the pain and got to his feet.
“Rosie…
“Kyle, don’t worry. I won’t let her bully you.”
Her voice was so firm that Kyle felt a surge of emotion
Just as they were caught up in the moment, a voice echoed from the staircase.
“It seems my words didn’t stick. Have you forgotten who runs this house?”
The cold voice drifted down, and Kyle’s face went pale. He stammered.
“Kellan… this time… she’s the one who threw me to the ground. I’m still in pain. You can’t let her get away with this.”
After a moment of hesitation, Kyle’s confidence returned.
He shot Zina a triumphant glare, his eyes screaming, “You’re finished.”
Zina just shrugged, lifting her head to meet the gaze of the man on the stairs.
“Mr. Carter, what do you think?”
You can do no wrong
The moment those blatantly biased words fell, the smile on Kyle’s face froze. He turned his head slowly, staring at Kellan in disbelief.
“Kellan! What are you talking about? I’m your family! This… this thing insults me, and you’re taking its side?”
“She cured my father. Doesn’t that make her infinitely more useful than a brainless fool like you?”
Kellan’s voice was laced with undisguised contempt. His words instantly silenced the enraged Kyle, leaving only the shock widening in his eyes.
“Wh–what? Grandfather’s illness… it’s cured?”
“That’s right. Are you unhappy about it?”
Kellan slowly descended the stairs, a knowing smile growing in his eyes.

Chapter 36
Kyle shook his head quickly, swallowing hard. “No… no, of course not. I’m just… overwhelmed… Grandfather’s finally awake…
His voice trailed off, becoming barely a mumble.
Catching sight of the Bauta mask out of the corner of his eye, the suppressed rage flared up inside him again.
“She’s the one who saved him? She has to go.
A flash of murderous intent crossed Kyle’s eyes. When he looked up, his expression was perfectly composed, his voice full of
concern.
“Where is Grandfather now? I’ll go upstairs and see him?
“No need. I’m right here.”
A strong, weathered voice rang out, and Patrick Carter descended the stairs, leaning on a cane.
He showed no signs of weakness; in fact, his face had a healthy glow.
The sight left Kyle stunned. A thousand thoughts raced through his mind, but what came out of his mouth was pure joy.
“Grandfather, this is wonderful. You’re finally awake.”
“That’s because we had the Ghost Doctor”
Patrick had witnessed the whole argument and couldn’t bring himself to look at Kyle kindly.
But when he looked at the person in the Bauta mask, his face broke into a wide smile.
“Thank you, Doctor. You’re my savior. If there is anything the Carter family can do for you, you need only ask?
Zina had heard these same words before.
