Chapter 43
“Rosie, you’ve got it all wrong. This is a department manager. We were just discussing the progress on a project” As he finished speaking, the manager stepped forward. She wore a faint, professional smile, and her every move was perfectly calibrated to project a cool distance, as if she wanted no part of their personal dranta.
“Mr. Carter, we’ll proceed with this plan for now. I’ll update you on our progress later.”
“Fine. You can go,” Kyle said, sighing wearily as he watched her leave.
But to Rosie, his sigh was a secret, a shared moment between the two of them.
Sharp nails dug into her palms as she bit her lip, forcing herself not to show her displeasure.
When she looked up at Kyle again, she was once again composed, her expression sweet and almost shy.
“Kyle, I’m sorry. I overreacted. It’s just… I love you so much that I get carried away. Can you forgive me?”
She was the girl he had always put on a pedestal. The second her voice softened, Kyle was putty in his hands.
He just tapped her nose playfully, “What am I going to do with you?”
Rosie seized the opportunity, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him in for a kiss.
Just as things were getting heated, she pulled back again, her face a mask of sorrow.
“Kyle, my family’s company is in crisis. Could you… could you invest and help me?”
“We’ll see,” Kyle murmured, his hands already sliding under her shirt. “Show me you’re worth it.”
Back at the Lambert estate.
Zina watched the live feed on her laptop, a smirk playing on her lips. Kyle and Rosie were certainly bold.
Hacking the Carter Corporation’s security system had been well worth the effort.
Satisfied, Zina saved the video file and shut her computer.
She leaned back on her large bed, contemplating her next move.
Kyle would definitely invest now, so there was no point in continuing to bleed the Sinclair Group dry. It was time for a new approach.
Calculating the time, she figured Chris should have arrived in Springvale by now. She wondered what was happening there.
As if on cue, her phone rang.
“Get up, you’ve got a big score! Get up, you’ve got a big score!”

Chapter 43
For a split second, Zina truly regretted setting such a cringey ringtone. She sighed and answered it, sitting up in bed.
The message on the screen was in a large font.
[The Quinn family. Youngest son. Physical disability. Housebound for five years. Cause undisclosed.]
The Quinns!
Zina searched her memory, only to find that she knew almost nothing about them.
The four reclusive families were truly masters of staying off the grid.
She let out a silent sigh of admiration and tapped “Accept.”
It was about time she started engaging with that world anyway.
The next morning, Zina woke carly,
יה
Remembering her new assignment, she washed up and went straight downstairs. As she was making an excuse to leave, Yvonne came down from the upper floor.
Seeing that Zina was about to head out. Yvonne quickly spoke up. “Are you going out today?”
“Mrs. Lambert, is something wrong?” Zina asked.
“I was hoping to take you to a party tonight” Yvonne then waved her hand dismissively. “But it’s not important. Once we officially restore your identity, there will be plenty of parties.”
“Okay. I’ll be going then.”
Zina glanced at the time and turned to leave.
Yvonne was left standing there, watching Zina’s retreating back with a helpless sigh, her gaze slowly filling with guilt
