Chapter 49
As Victor went to sit, his eyes fell on Cain, and a fresh wave of pain washed over him.
What had he done to deserve this? Of his four grandsons, two were plagued by chronic illness, and the other two….
He couldn’t even bring himself to think about the other two. He clenched his jaw and sighed heavily.
“Grandfather, I met a woman today.” Miles said, his expression filled with regret. “She helped Cain.”
“At first, I thought he just fell, but then I realized he must have been having an episode. The woman who helped looked very young. I wasn’t paying close enough attention, so I didn’t get her contact information. By the time I sent someone to find her, she was gone.
“She helped Cain?”
A flicker of light appeared in Victor’s weary eyes. “Check the security footage. Find that woman, no matter what it takes. If she can really help you and Cain, I don’t care who she is or where she comes from. She will be a benefactor to the Quinn family.”
Just then, a knock came at the door.
“Sir, the guests for this evening’s banquet are arriving. The Sinclairs are here.”
“The Sinclairs? Victor frowned, the name not ringing a bell
The assistant outside continued. They’re the ones who have been telling everyone how talented their daughter is in medicine. They’re probably here hoping to get her noticed.”
Everyone knew that Master Sylvan would be at the Quinn’s banquet tonight, and rumors were flying that he was looking to take on a new student.
“Is that so?” Victor muttered, then an idea struck him. His eyes lit up. “How old is this girl?”
“She looks to be around twenty, quite young.”
The assistant noted the odd question.
Victor and Miles exchanged a look. A flash of hope crossed Miles’s face, and he nodded. “The description fits.”
A smile finally broke across Victor’s face, and he let out a booming laugh. “Excellent. We were just worried about how to find her. Have someone observe the young lady’s character. We can discuss the rest tonight.”
“Of course,” Miles said, reigning in his excitement to maintain his usual gentle demeanor. He addressed the assistant through the door, “Go and see to Miss Sinclair. Make sure she’s treated as our guest of honor.”
“Right away, Mr. Miles”
The assistant left, a grin on his face.
He’d worked for the family for a long time and had never seen the patriarch so happy. This Miss Sinclair must be someone special

Chapter 49
He walked downstairs and immediately spotted the Sinclairs–Kevin, his wife, and their daughter Rosie–looking awkward and out of place.
Remembering his instructions, the assistant walked straight to Rosie.
Miss, you’ve arrived a bit early, so it’s still quiet. It will get much busier later this afternoon. Please, make yourselves. comfortable. Mr. Quinn has instructed that you are to be treated as our guest of honor. If you need anything at all, just let
me know”
The first part of his speech had annoyed Rosie, but the last part made her eyes light up.
“Your master knows about me?”
Her parents leaned in, their faces full of eager anticipation.
The assistant felt a bit uncomfortable but answered politely. “Of course. We’ve heard that you’re quite accomplished in the medical field…
“I told you Rosie’s skills were impressive,” her mother burst out proudly before he could finish.
“Of course, she is. Our Rosie is the best, her father added.
They went on, trading compliments about their daughter, completely oblivious to the assistant’s darkening expression.
