Chapter 62
The words were on Zina’s lips when a cold, creeping dread wrapped itself around Kevin’s heart.
His peripheral vision caught Rosie’s petrified expression from the stage. Suddenly, all the scattered fragments in his mind fell into place.
His eyes snapped wide open as he was to stop Zina from uttering a word.
At that moment, Zina gave him a faint, knowing smile and beat him to the punch.
“Everyone here heard what Rosie just said, loud and clear. So, don’t you think I deserve an account for that?”
Zina didn’t mention the prison, which was a relief for Kevin.
But then, all eyes converging on him, he panicked once again.
He stammered, “Well… there’s probably some misunderstanding between you and Rosie. Why don’t you two talk it over
first…
“Spare me. I will never return to the Sinclair family. You two should really take a good, hard look at what you’ve done to me
and everything that’s happened since I came back. Kevin, tell your precious daughter to stop using my name for her shady
schemes from now on.”
As soon as she finished speaking, her face went blank again.
She stepped aside, avoiding Kevin’s hand, and turned to Wade instead.
“Perhaps we could catch up another time. There’s someone who’s truly nauseating. I need to step out and get somIC air.
“You’re as strong–minded as ever.
Wade smiled with doting affection–Zina had finally grown up and learned to stand up for herself.
He couldn’t help but hope that Zina would always stay this sharp–tongued. At least this way, she wouldn’t be pushed around.
Wade watched as Zina walked away, then gave the assembled guests a casual wave.
“No one really stood out to me today. However, as a consolation. I’ll be opening up a few apprenticeship spots with my protégés. Feel free to explore other opportunities.”
With that, he strode off without another word.
The b
banquet hall went dead silent. The festive mood vanished, leaving only heavy stillness.
Miles let out a weary sigh, having no choice but to step forward to take charge.
“Everyone, please settle down. We still have a little something extra in store for you all, so we kindly ask for your patience.”
*****Meanwhile, in a room on the second floor, Victor listened to his assistant’s report, his brow furrowing deeper by the.
minute.

Chapter 62
“Are you telling me the Doctor didn’t come because security turned her away?”
“I think so, sir.”
The assistant’s forehead was beaded with cold sweat. Terrified, he gritted his teeth and forced out a reply.
The Doctor they had waited so long for stormed off over something so trivial. The mere thought of how furious Victor would be made this assistant break out in a cold sweat.
But Victor didn’t explode like he expected. Instead, he just shut his eyes, drew a sharp breath, and said, “Find that security guard Fire him, blacklist him from the industry permanently, and make the reason for his termination public knowledge.”
He paused briefly. “Also, keep trying to contact the Doctor. Tell her we’ll do everything to apologize and compensate.
The assistant quickly nodded and, in his heart, offered a silent moment of sympathy for the security guard.
Once this announcement went public, the security guard would be effectively blacklisted by the industry.
Yet he had it coming. Someone that clueless would cause more trouble.
The assistant left. Victor slumped back into his chair, absentmindedly scrolling through his phone.
With no word from downstairs, his restlessness grew once again.
