The moment the call connected, Kellan’s voice came through, tinged with pleasant surprise.
“Doctor, is there something you need to tell me? What brings this unexpected call?”
“Listen closely to every word I say.” Zina said urgently, “First, get your most trusted aides to search the entire villa, especially Patrick’s room and the places he frequents. Look for anything unusual, anything you haven’t seen before. You mentioned wanting to get involved in the company? Investigate the top executives; you might find some leads. Most importantly, keep a close eye on your family doctor and the hospital nurses.”
“So, you’re saying there’s a mole in my family?” Kellan asked, betraying no surprise..
His deep, husky tone even carried a subtle hint of amusement.
Zina was still processing when he continued smoothly, “Rest assured, Doctor. I’ll thoroughly investigate everything you’ve mentioned”
“Good,” Zina replied.
Though something still felt off, she didn’t press further.
Her tightly knitted brows betrayed an irritation she couldn’t shake
Even after the call ended, she was still a bit dazed.
She couldn’t shake the feeling that she’d forgotten something, but since she couldn’t figure out what it was, she simply stopped trying to dwell on it.
Barely had she sat down when a sudden knock rapped at her door.
When she walked over and opened the door, Lydia’s face came into view.
“Zina, I warmed up some milk. Want some?” she asked.
To prevent Zina from refusing, she pushed her way in and pressed the glass into Zina’s hands.
“Zina, I know I’ve been hostile to you before, but I really need your help this time. Just drink this–and then please help me

She looked up at Zina with wide, earnest eyes, her gaze full of hope and silent pleading.
Brushing her fingers on the glass, Zina didn’t haste to drink it right away. Instead, she slowly swirled the glass, arching an eyebrow at Lydia.
“First, tell me what it is. It’s not like I have to drink this.”

Lydia didn’t answer her directly. “Zina, please, just drink it. I promise I’ll tell you everything afterwards. I’m so scared won’t forgive me. I’m really in deep trouble this time.”

She looked utterly pitiful, her eyes red–rimmed and brimming with tears, as if she might break down crying any second.

Chapter 72
Zina stared at the milk in her hands for a long moment. After a brief hesitation, she raised the glass and drained it in one go.
Lydia let out a sigh of relief, a satisfied smile spreading across her face.
She said, “Zina. I just remembered–I have something urgent to take care of. I’ll step out for a sec and come back to talk to you.”
Before Zina could react, she bolted out the door.
Zina frowned as her vision suddenly began to blur.
The phone’s sound grew faint, her body going limp before she collapsed to the floor.
After what felt like ages, voices drifted in from outside the room once more. A man was talking to Lydia.
He said, “Lydia, you sure she’s passed out in there? This isn’t gonna backfire on us, right?”
*Relax. You saw me drug her with your own eyes. What could go wrong? Go ahead and don’t hold back. That bitch refuses to leave. How dare she steal my place!”
Lydia practically spat out the words through gritted teeth, her venomous gaze locked on the tightly shut door.
She shoved the guy beside her with force as her voice turned venomous.
“Go on. Didn’t you practically pick her out after seeing her photos? Trust me, she’s way more exciting in the flesh.”
The man chuckled. “Lydia, thanks for this. Don’t worry, Ill snap plenty of photos. She won’t have any choice but to leave after that.
