Rosie had never met a woman more unhinged than herself. For a moment, she was stunned.
After a few seconds, she snapped back to reality, and fixed her gaze intently on the woman before her. A slow, knowing smile curled at the corners of her lips.
“There, there,” she said with feigned concern, gently patting Lydia on the shoulder. “Tell me what happened. Let me see how I can help
Lydia finally found a shoulder to cry on, beginning to whimper softly.
“I got kicked out! That bitch schemed against me behind my back and turned Mom and Dad against me!”
The more Lydia spoke, the more aggrieved she became. Completely lost in her own world, she missed the fleeting flash of shock and calculating thought that crossed Rosie’s eyes.
Lydia’s still a Lambert. This little tantrum won’t last. Give it a week, and she’ll come crawling back to her gilded cage, playing princess like nothing happened.”
At this thought, Rosie’s movements became even more deliberately gentle, her voice dripping with honeyed sweetness.
“Don’t be upset, Lydia. Let me show you how to handle this.
By the time Lydia left the mall, she looked like a completely different person.
With her fists clenched tightly at her sides, she strode forward with determination. Though her eyes were still slightly red- rimmed, the uncontrollable trembling from before had completely vanished,
Inside the mall, Rosie watched Lydia go. Then she made a call.
“Kyle.”
Her soft voice made Kyle’s furrowed brow relax a little.
Casually draping his jacket over the back of the chair, Kyle sat down and asked, “What’s up?”
“Kyle, are you still at the office? I’d love for you to come home and have dinner with me tonight. How about I o up?” She asked sweetly.

Kyle’s brows furrowed as he glanced at the files beside him, but he still responded with a terse, noncommittal “Hmm”
Rosie’s elated voice came through the receiver. “See you then, love.”
After hanging up, Kyle cast a glance at his secretary and instructed, “You’d better leave now. Don’t let Rosie see you–she can’t stand having other women around me.”
The secretary hesitated, meekly nodding before walking straight out.
In the towering skyscrapers, sunlight streamed into the office as Kyle leaned back in his chair, his mind adrift.
After what felt like an eternity, the office door swung open. Kyle turned his head and saw Rosie hurried in.

Chapter 88
Rosie’s eyes swept the room. Confirming that the woman she’d seen last time was nowhere in sight, she exhaled in relief. A coy smile played on her lips as she spoke.
“Kyle, do you have business today? Guess what–I’ve got some amazing news to share with you!”
“Oh! What’s that?”
Kyle straightened up in his chair, his gaze lifting slightly to meet hers.
With a coquettish giggle, Rosie took a few quick steps toward him and threw herself right into his arms.
Leaning in to breathe in Rosie’s scent, Kyle urged, “Come on, stop playing coy. If you don’t tell me, I’m going to have to. guess!*
“Oh, always so demanding, aren’t you? Don’t be so impatient every time,” Rosie teased.
She playfully grasped Kyle’s wandering fingers before speaking up. “Did you hear? There’s some trouble in the Lambert family. Word is, they brought home an adopted daughter and somehow ended up kicking out their own spoiled little princess. Honestly, I think the parents are just too proud to admit their mistake, and that real daughter is a bit spoiled and willful. Who knows, maybe she’ll be back in a few days.
Kyle’s voice instantly turned serious. “How did you find out?”
He had long harbored a desire to form ties with the Lambert family, but an opportunity had proven elusive.
