It wasn’t until Zina saw the patient lying in bed that everything clicked–Andy’s words, and why Wade had insisted on dragging her along.
“Damn it, the person lying in that bed is a coma patient. Not even the most powerful God could wake someone like that today, right? Zina thought.
Despite these thoughts, she managed a strained smile and looked up to meet Andy’s gaze. “Mr. Wood, who is this?” she said.
“This is my driver, Andy began, heaving a dramatic sigh as his gaze lingered on the man lying in the hospital bed. “A year ago, he was in a car accident and has been in a coma ever since, receiving care here.
“I went to great lengths to obtain Mr. Sylvan’s contact information. Now, with some urgent matters that only he can handle if he wakes up, I have no choice but to bring Mr. Sylvan here.”
Only Zina noticed that Andy’s hands, hanging at his sides, had curled into tight, pale–knuckled fists.
“Let me examine the situation first,” Zina said calmly.
She briefly reassured Andy, then turned to Wade with a slight nod before stepping toward the patient’s bed.
The man had been lying there for a year–his body had stiffened from prolonged immobility, sustained only by IV nutrients to maintain basic bodily functions. With no other vital signs to speak of, it was a pitiful sight.
“An incident from a year ago?” Zina circled the patient before stopping to fix Andy with an icy stare.
Andy’s heart skipped a beat, and he quickly nodded. “Yes, exactly a year ago. Why do you ask?”
“Nothing serious. Just gathering background information,” Zina replied coolly
She turned her attention back to the patient on the bed, her brows remaining tightly knit, showing no sign of relaxing
A few minutes later, Zina let out a sigh of relief. “Thank goodness, there’s still a chance of success,” she said calmly.
“Doctor,” Andy gasped, “are you saying there’s still hope?”
Overwhelmed with emotion, Andy lunged forward, reaching for Zina’s hand, so caught up that he didn’t even notice when she subtly pulled away.
Zina nodded slightly and began to explain, “I’ve just reviewed his medical records. He’s still in a coma, mainly because of a blood clot in his brain. If we can find a way to completely clear it, there’s a chance he could wake up.”
Andy’s eyes blazed with renewed hope as he immediately waved over someone nearby.

“Quick, go secure the best spot in town. Today, we’re throwing a grand welcome feast for our two doctors,” he ordered.
As Andy flashed a manic grin, Zina leaned in closer to Wade.
“Wade,” she muttered, “why on earth did you drag me here? This isn’t normal. You haven’t just thrown me into deep trouble, have you?”
Wade shook his head slowly. His voice was deliberate yet unwavering, leaving no room for doubt. “Just wait and see,” Wade said firmly. “Andy is hiding something–and it’s crucial.”
This was the first time Zina had seen Wade look so conflicted. Deciding not to press further, she quietly followed him into the car.
The sunlight outside grew ever brighter, casting a radiant glow on Zina’s delicate features, making her even more enchanting
Occasional breezes stirred, tugging at her wandering thoughts and carrying them adrift.
