Chapter 13- News On Gwen
Jack’s Pov
After Cara stormed out I knew I should have chased after her but I didn’t feel like it.
As much as I’ve been trying to get my company back I couldn’t stop thinking about Gwen. How had she even gotten the CCTV footage to air the video? I knew Gwen very well and she’s always been timid.
However the person who had spoken to me on the phone didn’t sound like the Gwen I knew.
I had also seen her comment on the post Cara made about the engagement. I had even thought she would lash out or ask why I used her ring but her calm response was unexpected.
My phone beeped and I saw it was a message from my Pl asking to meet me in my study. I picked up David who was watching cartoon on his tablet and took him to the car.
“Daddy, where’s Mommy going?” he asked me.
I shrugged, “Mommy has to go to the hospital. Come, I’m taking you to see your grandma.”
I drove back home and was relieved to see that my mother was still in my house. I thought by now she’d be halfway to the beach house after the way she threatened me last time. “Where’s your new wife?” my mom asked.
I rolled my eyes and dropped David with her.
“I don’t have strength for your antics, Mother,” I answered.
My mother scoffed, “If Cara can sit and watch you do such inhumane thing to another woman then she’s more dangerous than you know. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
ignored my mother and walked to my study where my Pl was waiting for me.
I collapsed and the chair and stared at him.
“Hurry up, Cara mustn’t see you here,” I said to him.
Calvin nodded and brought out a file.
The moment when I hired Calvin to find Gwen for me he also was hired by Cara to find
Gwen.
Calvin has always been loyal to me so I made sure he reported to me only and gave Cara half–truths.
“I found her,” Calvin said, “She’s in Melbourne. I don’t know how she was able to get there but she was on a first–class flight.”
I frowned, “How had she been able to afford first–class tickets to another country? Where
in Melbourne is she in? Who picked her up from the airport?”
Calvin sighed, “I’m still working on it, Sir. I don’t have all the information yet.”
I ran a hand through my hair and sighed in frustration.

“I need you to find Gwen as soon as possible. I need to know what she’s up to and if she’s alright,” I said.
“I’ll do my best,” he said.
Just as he turned the go the door opened and Cara stormed in, her eyes wide with shock when she saw Calvin.
“What are you doing here?” she asked Calvin then her eyes landed on me, “Are you spying on me?”
I rolled my eyes, “Of course, not, Cara, everything isn’t about you.”
That’s when she saw the file on my desk and grabbed it.
“You’re tracking Gwen?” she asked.
I glared at her, “Don’t pretend like you’re not. I know you asked him to find Gwen.”
Cara scoffed, “I see. That’s why you’ve been giving me attitude, huh? What do you want to do when you find her, huh? Beg her to take you back? After you killed her son and made her barren?”
My face scrunched up in rage, “That’s enough, Cara.”
Calvin gingerly stepped aside, “I’ll take my leave now.”
He quietly tiptoed out of the study while Cara was still glaring at me.
“I can’t do this with you right now,” I said to her.
She scoffed, “Why? You suddenly want Gwen here? Weren’t you always clamoring that she wouldn’t leave and you don’t mind if she does? So why has she gone and you’re looking for her?”
“Maybe the better question will be why are you looking for her?” I snapped,
“I just want to know how she’s doing and if she needs help,” Cara answered quickly.
I frowned, for the first time in a long while I felt like she wasn’t telling me the truth.
“We have to find her then. She’s the one who’s making my company a mess,” I said.
Cara sighed, “I just feel like since Gwen left you’ve not been giving me attention and now my family too seem to have forgotten me since news of Rachel surfaced.”
I let out a sigh and pulled Cara into my arms.
“You don’t have to feel jealous, Princess, we all love you,” I said to her.
She looked at me with misty eyes, “Then prove it, Jack, marry me this weekend.”
