Chapter 21
He continued, “I know you’re angry, but divorce isn’t something
to joke about. We’re still in our honeymoon period.“”
“Honeymoon?” Adelaide sneered. “The night we got married,
yesterday at noon, and last night in Amanda’s room. Do you
want me to go into more detail?”
Garrett instantly looked flustered.
How did she know?!
Adelaide’s face twisted with mockery. “Still think this isn’t
serious?”
Garrett realized how bad things really were and immediately
dropped to his knees in front of her. “Please, let me explain.”
“Don’t touch me with your filthy hands!” Adelaide slapped his
hands away, her face twisted in rage and disgust.
“Honey, calm down. Just let me explain.”
“Explain?” Adelaide looked down at him icily. “I gave you the
benefit of the doubt the first time. What about the second? The
third? Garrett, we’ve known each other for 22 years, and it’s only the third day since we got married, and you’ve already
cheated on me three times! What more do you want to explain? Are you going to tell me that you were drugged, threatened, or
seduced?!
“If you dare use any of those excuses, you’re not just a jerk but
also a coward!”
Every word hit like a knife, slicing Garrett’s heart open, leaving
it raw and bleeding. Every excuse got stuck in his throat, and he
couldn’t say a single word.
After a long silence, he bowed his head. “I’m sorry, honey. I won’t try to justify what happened. But my heart belongs to
you and only you. You’re the one I’ve always loved. I won’t
divorce you. I swear I’ll cut all ties with Amanda as soon as
possible. I won’t let her affect our marriage.”
“You’re shameless.” How dare he still say she was the one he’d
always loved?
“Honey, we’ve been together for so many years-”
“Shut up. The Garrett I once knew is dead to me.“”
“No, I’m not dead. I want to spend my life with you.”
Adelaide slapped him across the face, her chest heaving with
fury. “Garrett, you disgust me. You’re a hypocrite. Don’t you
dare say your heart only belongs to me, or that you want to
spend your life with me! Don’t insult the word love.”

Garrett turned his face aside and didn’t fight back. “If slapping
or yelling at me makes you feel better, then go ahead. Just don’t
say divorce again.”
His stubbornness didn’t surprise Adelaide.
She knew him, after all.
Whether he loved her or not, the fact remained that they had
just gotten married. A quick divorce would affect his right to
inheritance.
Taking a deep breath, Adelaide shook her numb hand and said.
coldly, “Do whatever you want.”
When she stood up to leave, Garrett immediately got up and
hugged her from behind. “Can’t you just give me one more
chance to make things right? I swear, I haven’t slept with her.”
This man was more shameless than Adelaide had expected.
What he and that woman had done was no different from
sleeping together!
She gritted her teeth. “Let go of me!”
He held her tighter. “I won’t. I know if you walk out that door, I
won’t be able to find you again.”
“Let go!”

“I won’t!”
“Garrett, don’t make me get violent.”
“You’ve already slapped me once. One more won’t make a
difference.”
Just as Adelaide raised her hand again, the apartment door
suddenly opened.
Spencer unexpectedly walked in.
When he saw Garrett clinging to Adelaide, his face darkened. He strode forward, yanked Garrett off by the arm, and pinned
the latter to the wall by the throat…
