Chapter 179 

Ruby’s POV 

Gellert Knightley. 

That was the name of the baby who had been prophesied to die from a curse. Day by day passed, and he grew into an active and intelligent child. if anyone asked whether he was the perfect blend of Killian and me, the answer would be: not quite. Honestly, it annoyed me a little. 

I was the one who went through the hardship of pregnancy. Not to mention the madman who infiltrated the palace and sparked a rebellion, leaving me to bear some of the consequences. And what did I get in return? Just the shape of his eyebrows that looked like mine. The rest was a perfect replica of King Lycan Knightley, his father. 

“Gellert, you just had two bottles of milk. Are you still hungry?” 

The little one whimpered, flapping his arms to reach the empty milk bottle. My personal maid, Nancy, shared the same concerned look. This child had an extraordinary appetite. Was that normal? 

“Nancy, do you think I should call a healer?” 

The young maid replied, “Judging by young master Gellert’s condition, it would be wise to have him checked. Shall I pass this message to the infirmary, Your Majesty?” 

“Yes, thank you.” 

With a respectful nod, Nancy quickly left the room to carry out her task. Gellert was still fussing, upset he didn’t get his third bottle of milk. On the other hand, I felt a strong urge to call Killian. But he was busy. I didn’t want to burden him with more than he already had on his plate, at least not while I could still handle it myself. 

I gently patted the toddler’s bottom while humming his favorite lullaby. Every now and then, Gellert would close his eyes for a moment, though still restless as his demands hadn’t been fulfilled by his mother. 

“I’m sorry, little wolf. We have to wait for the results of the check–up before I can give you another fresh bottle, okay?” coaxed him. 

His nose wrinkled in disapproval. I stifled a chuckle, amused by this miniature Killian. Both of them had the same unyielding stubbornness. I couldn’t help but wonder what surprises the future held with this child. Sometimes, Killian would clash with his own son, even though he never did that with Elias who funnily enough isn’t even his biological son. 

Not long after, a healer arrived accompanied by Nancy. The examination took less time than I had expected. Judging from the expression on her face, there was nothing serious to be concerned about. 

“All is well, Your Majesty,” she said. 

She scribbled on her parchment with a quill, glasses perched delicately on her nose. 

“The elevated appetite is caused by the nearly depleted wolf mana core inside him. Because of that, the young master constantly feels hungry. He instinctively knows his body needs a substantial daily intake of energy until the core is properly filled,” she explained kindly. 

“Will his intense appetite return to normal eventually?” I asked. 

The healer smiled. “Yes, Your Majesty. I’ll also prescribe him a few herbal remedies and dietary recommendations.” 

“Thank you.” 

The medical explanation eased my paranoia at last. After instructing Nancy to store the potion and the written notes properly, I picked up

Chapter 179 

Gallert and gently placed him back into his crib. He had already fallen fast asleep after the healer whispered an enchantment over him. His stomach was full from healthy baby snacks and a few vitamins. 

A warm smile tugged at the corners of my lips when Elias appeared behind the large doors. Nancy and the healer bowed respectfully before stepping out, allowing us some privacy. Elias blinked in confusion. 

“Mom, are you or Gallert sick?” 

I shook my head and reached out a hand toward him. A blush crept onto his cheeks as he mumbled that he wasn’t a big baby anymore. My laughter only deepened his embarrassment, although he still willingly walked into my embrace. 

“Just a routine check–up. Turns out, your little brother is a super baby,” I said jokingly. 

He hummed softly, “Will you share it with me? I want to know.” 

“You seem very protective of him. I’m glad you’ve so easily embraced your new role as a big brother. But I do want to know if there’s anything troubling you.” 

Though Elias had never shown any signs of jealousy and always acted like a loving sibling, I couldn’t forget that he used to be the youngest in the family. I understood deeply that there might be things he wasn’t fully ready to accept or understand. 

“Honesty is greatly appreciated.” 

Elias gently pulled away from my embrace. He glanced briefly toward the baby’s crib. 

“When the news of your pregnancy was first announced, I didn’t feel anything,” he admitted, shifting uncomfortably. “Not in a bad way, though. I’ve always had trouble describing emotions in the usual way. But I want you to know, mom. I never felt jealous of him, or held any negative feelings toward him.” 

The face that was usually so neutral now carried a faint glow. 

“I’m happy you have another child. Besides, Gallert is pretty delightful.” He gave a small shrug. 

My hand gently ran through Elias’s soft, brown hair. “I admire how mature your thoughts are, my son. Forgive me, I just never want any of my angels to feel left out or overlooked in any way.” 

“Trust me, there’s no need for that worry.” 

Suddenly, the trace of cheerfulness in Elias’s expression faded, replaced by a shadow that darkened his mood. 

“Mom, would you mind if I visited your former pack?” 

It was an unexpected request. After all, Elias almost never spoke of anything related to the memories that reminded him of Mikael. Of that didn’t mean my precious boy didn’t love him. Elias simply expressed it in a very different way. 

“I do”
