- Jemaya’s POV

I hadn’t bothered to look up my mom’s fiancé on the internet. After all, he was just a man who had inherited his family’s wealth.
What was there to search?
I’d taken his word for it on such a surface level, but the Jake Hardin everyone knew-that I knew-didn’t just inherit some little money from his parents.
That man was a fucking billionaire.
A dangerous one at that?
How did I not see it? Everyone knew.
More like, why did my mother not tell me about what we were getting ourselves involved in?
Now it all made sense… the way they stared. The fear in their eyes when he glared at them.
I’d always thought there was something about him. Something I couldn’t fathom but still drew me in.
It all started to make sense to me.
Realization was seeping in heavily, and I needed time to
process.
Somewhere between sixth period, a teacher asked, “Miss Jemaya, may I know why you are so lost in thought in my class?”
But when I turned to him, barely coming out of my trance-he immediately looked away and apologized.

“Of course, you can do as you wish. After all, this is History class, and we have to think a lot,” and the class continued.
No wonder…
His words this morning. They were so scary but naturally flowed out of his mouth like he’d said them a thousand times.
Indeed, anyone who dared to bully me again was courting death.
Jake Hardin was a dangerous man!
