As soon as Ashley stepped closer to the bed, a pillow hit her square in the chest.
“What right do you have to be anywhere near my husband? Lila shrieked louder, tears spilling down her
cheeks. “I don’t want you near him!”
Ethan rushed forward to hold her.
“Don’t cry, babe, I thought you’d enjoy having a therapist tell you a story. That’s why I brought her.”
“I don’t want any other woman around you! Make her leave!” Lila snapped, hurling another pillow at Ashley.
“Alright.” Ethan stroked her hair gently, full of concern, then turned cold as he looked toward the door.
“What are you waiting for? Throw her out,” he ordered the bodyguards.
Ashley was frozen to the core, not even given a chance to speak before the guards dragged her outside.
The early autumn night was bitter cold. Up in the mountains, it was even worse. Shivering, Ashley stood
outside the villa, numb to the bone.
She couldn’t get a cab and had no choice but to walk down the hill.
Her thoughts drifted to a memory–when they had just gotten together. She’d taken him to visit left–behind
children in the mountains. They missed the last bus and had to walk all the way down.
Ethan had insisted on carrying her for two hours, his feet blistered and bleeding from cheap shoes that
didn’t fit. But he never once complained.
“A few blisters are nothing. As long as you’re safe, Ash, nothing else matters. I’ll never let anything touch
you,”
His soft words still echoed in her ears. But that man didn’t exist anymore.
No–Ethan Campbell, heir of Arlington Heights, had never loved her.
The man who had once loved her with his whole heart was just plain Eth–the man with nothing. And the day he got his memory back, that Eth had died.
Her heel suddenly got stuck in a crack in the stones. She fell, hard, scraping her palm open.
Pain shot up her arm, but Ashley clenched her teeth and tried to hold it in. Tears still slipped from her
eyes.

She cried a long time before she found the strength to get up, dragging her wounded body step by step down the mountain.
Ashley couldn’t even remember how she made it home. By the time she did, the sun was already rising.
She cleaned herself up, then went straight to the immigration office. She filed for an expedited application -her paperwork would be ready in fifteen days.
After that, she returned to the counseling center to submit her resignation. She had never taken a vacation -working nonstop just to build a better life with Ethan. Now, before leaving, she decided to use her
unused leave.
As soon as she walked out of the clinic, her phone rang.
Ethan.
“Pick up the dress and bring it to me. Two addresses–forty minutes,” he ordered, voice like steel.
“Ethan, we don’t have anything to do with each other anymore,” Ashley reminded him.
He paused–then let out a cold laugh.
“Don’t want your father’s Vintage Heirloom Watch back? Lila knows about you now. You’d better show up
and apologize. Now.”
Before she could reply, he hung up.
Ashley didn’t want to go, but she had no choice. She headed to the hotel Ethan mentioned.
After searching the ballroom and nearby hallways, she finally found their room on the second floor.
Just as she reached to knock, the door creaked open on its own.
Inside, Ethan sat on the couch while Lila straddled his lap, swaying deliberately, teasing him with every
subtle movement.
His throat bobbed. Lust and affection burned in his eyes. His voice was painfully soft.
“Lila, baby… let me in, please? I can’t hold it anymore…”
“Hmph, just thinking about you messing around with that cheap trash Ashley makes me furious!” Lila
pouted through her tears.
“I was set up by Vincent Campbell–I nearly got hit by a car. I really lost my memory–that’s the only reason she was ever in my life,” Ethan rasped.

“Since I remembered who I was, I’ve only touched her once. That night you kicked me out, I got drunk…
and in my haze, I thought she was you…”
“Lila, she means nothing to me. That’s why I didn’t tell you. You have to believe me–you’re the only one I love. I’ve already paid her to vanish. You’ll never see her again. Please don’t be mad.”
His face flushed deep red, his whole body trembling, but he waited for her consent.
Outside, Ashley’s face went pale.
She remembered how, when they were together, he never once asked how she felt. He took her whenever he wanted–without hesitation, without pause.
And he had called it love.
“Ash, I love you so much I can’t help myself. I want to be with you every second. I can’t control it.”
And she had believed him–mistaking that hunger for proof of love.
But now she knew–when he truly loved someone, even on the edge, he would still wait for her to say yes.
“Fine… just this once,” Lila whispered breathlessly, already responding to him.
Ethan smirked. With one firm motion, he slid into her.
Lila gasped, her body collapsing against his shoulder, moving in rhythm with his thrusts.
“You liar… You said just once! This is assault–I should sue you,” she moaned playfully.
“Do it. Sentence me to life–chained to your side, dying of pleasure,” he grunted.
“What about Ashley? She tried to steal my husband–what does she get?”
“Whatever you decide, babe. I’ll support you forever. Now stop bringing her up. This is our moment.”
“I want her on a leash–until I’m over it. Mm… not so rough.”
