I couldn’t get answer from him. But I still had another card up
my sleeve.
I turned and walked toward Kylie’s cell, my blood still boiling
with rage. The sight of her sitting there, her head bowed, made
my stomach churn. She looked up as I approached, her eyes
filled with desperation.
“Just kill me.” she whispered.
I stopped in my tracks, staring at her. She heard the noise Isaac
made. A quick death was easier than what she was about to
experience.
“Kill you?” I repeated, my voice dripping with disbelief. “Now
you want mercy? Where was your mercy when you stole
seven years of my life, Kylie? Where was your mercy when
you helped Michael and Isaac tear my world apart?”
She flinched at my words, tears streaming down her face. “I
didn’t know… I didn’t think it would come to this. I was angry,
jealous. But I didn’t want this. I never wanted Asher to-”
Chapter104
“STOP IT!” I snapped, cutting her off. “Save your excuses! You made your choices, Kylie. Now you want me to forgive you? To
give you peace? No. You’ll sit here and rot with the weight of your choices!”
Her sobs filled the air, but I ignored them. I leaned closer, holding my blade.
“Now, tell me what you know about Michael. Tell me who’s helping him.”
She screamed, “I don’t know! I swear I don’t-”
I plunged the blade into her belly without hesitation. She let out an earsplitting scream. Yet just then, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed through the dungeon. I turned to see Matthew rushing in, his face lit up with excitement.
“Violet! I have news!” he cried.
“Is it about Asher???” I asked trembling. Please, please be good
news.
“A southern Alpha’s men spotted Michael recently. Michael
attacked them, injured several, but they noticed something.”
“What?” I asked, my heart pounding.
Chapter104
“Michael wasn’t alone. They didn’t see Asher, but he had others
with him. Allies. Whoever’s helping him, they’re not just in the
shadows–they’re fighting alongside him.”
I felt a glimmer of hope and rage intertwine. I guessed it right.
Michael wasn’t acting alone. He didn’t have what it took.
“Then we have a lead,” I said, nodding to Matthew. “Thank you.”
Matthew’s gaze softened, and for the first time, I saw genuine
concern in his eyes.
“Asher’s not my favorite man on the earth but he’s still blood. I
won’t let Michael destroy what we have left.”
I gave him a weak smile, feeling a surge of gratitude. “Thank
you. But if we want to get Asher back, we still need to find out
who’s backing him.”
I left Isaac and Kylie bleeding in the cell and went back to my
room.
Back in my chambers, I stripped off my bloodstained clothes
and stepped into the bath. The water was warm, soothing
against my skin, but it did nothing to wash away the rage
burning inside me. Isaac and Kylie’s blood felt like a mark, a
reminder of how cold and ruthless I had become.
Chapter104
Maybe Jayden was right. Power did change me. But I didn’t
regret it one bit.
This was how far I was willing to go to save Asher.
As I scrubbed at my skin, I thought of Michael. And his
mysterious help.
Who was that person?
Violet’s POV
A loud, relentless banging at my door yanked me from sleep.
My body felt heavy, my mind still foggy.
“Who is it?” I groaned, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. Morning
light was already streaming through the window, and I realized
I had no memory of getting into bed.
“It’s Simon,” came the urgent reply from the other side of the
door.
With a tired sigh, I swung my feet over the edge of the bed and
walked over to open the door.
Simon stood in the hallway. He looked worried, shifting from
foot to foot as if he didn’t quite know how to deliver his news.
Chapter104
“What happened?” I asked.
“Violet,” he said quietly, “I’m sorry to disturb you, but. Kylie’s in
a bad way. She’s barely holding on. The bleeding won’t stop, and
the silver poisoning is taking its toll. I don’t think she’s going to
make it.” he said quickly, like he expected me to react.
I didn’t.
“And?” My voice was cold, detached.
Simon hesitated, searching my face as if he wanted to find some
hint of remorse.
“Beta Philip and Alpha Jayden ordered me to inform you,” he
added carefully.
It took a second for his words to sink in. My mind was still
foggy from the little bit of sleep I’d managed to catch. And of
course Philip and Jayden couldn’t face me themselves, so they
sent Simon to do their dirty work. Typical. They never wanted
to deal with me directly when it came to making tough choices.
