“Do you feel that?” I asked quietly. “That’s the pain I carried for seven years.”
Philip and Jayden might have expected me to forgive her. But every scar she had left on me still burned.
Her lips quivered. “P–please.”
The word was barely audible, a broken whisper.
I tilted my head slightly, staring at her with no trace of emotion. “I gave you more chances than you deserved. And every time, you proved you couldn’t be trusted. This time, I’m done.”
Tears slid down her cheeks, but I wasn’t moved. Memories of the years she stole from me churned in my mind, fueling my
anger.
Her body swayed. She was about to collapse. But before she
could, another voice cut through the air.
Suddenly, Isaac’s voice rose from the next cell over. “Violet! You
want Michael’s secrets, right? I can tell you something big.”
I spun around and stalked toward the bars that separated us from Isaac. He was still wounded from my earlier
interrogation, but he managed to smirk. “I’ll talk, but you have to save Kylie.”
I glanced back at Kylie, who lay there so still she could have been dead already. My fists tightened. “Speak. If you’re lying or wasting my time, I’ll make your injuries look like a pinprick compared to what’s coming.”
Isaac took a shaky breath. “Michael’s new ally? It’s connected to Alpha Xavier.”
Xavier.
“So, it was him,” I muttered. I had suspected Javier for a while now. My conversation with Charlotte had only confirmed my
suspicions.
I exhaled sharply, glancing at Simon. “Tell the doctor to check them out. But don’t let them get comfortable.”
Simon’s expression hardened. “This changes everything.”
I nodded. “Gather the warriors. We’re going to war.”
Violet’s POV
Chapter108
I pushed open the heavy door to my office, my thoughts still
swirling from the conversation I’d just had with Isaac about
Alpha Xavier. The moment I stepped inside, I felt the urge to be
alone, to think about it all in silence. But Philip followed me,
closing the door behind him.
I wasn’t in the mood for more arguments, yet I could tell by the
look on his face that he had a lot to say.
He stood there, fists clenched, as if trying to steady himself. I
didn’t acknowledge him. Five minutes passed. Then ten.
Still, I didn’t look up from the map spread out on my desk.
“I know you’re angry,” he finally spoke. “And you probably
don’t want to hear what I have to say, but Xavier is dangerous.
You know that, right? If you make a deal with him, it might
only make things worse.”
I traced my fingers over the map, pretending to study the lines
and markings. In reality, I was just trying not to snap.
“Well, what would you have me do, Philip? Just sit around and
wait for Michael to send me Asher’s body? Because that’s
exactly what he threatened, in case you forgot.” I snorted,
bitterness rising in my chest.
Philip sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “People are talking. The Pack doesn’t know what to make of Alpha Javier’s
involvement. He’s the only hybrid we know of, but if his Pack
has others like him, then we’re dealing with a much bigger issue than we realized.”
I tapped my fingers against the table. “We don’t even know if that’s true yet.”
“But if it is?” Brian pressed.
I exhaled sharply. “Then we’ll deal with it.”
“You can’t just keep pushing forward without considering the consequences,” Brian argued. “This isn’t just about strategy. It’s
about survival.”
I held up a hand, cutting him off. “No,” I said firmly. “I’ve made
up my mind. And if you’re not willing to stand by me, then get
out of my way. I don’t have time for more lectures.“”
He hesitated for a long moment. Then, after what felt like an
eternity, he squared his shoulders.
His jaw tightened, but to my surprise, he shook his head.
“I’m not leaving,” he said quietly. “I’m your Beta, and I’m also
your brother. I made a vow to serve and protect you. Yes, I’m worried about you–about the risk you’re taking. But I’ll help you, no matter what.”
His words caught me off guard. I studied him for a moment, still trying to reconcile the person I saw now with the brother who had stood by and done nothing when we first lost Asher.
I could still feel the strain between us. The last few days had changed everything, and I wasn’t sure if we could ever go back.
“Leave me alone for a while,” I said, barely glancing at him. “I need time to think.”
Brian studied me, as if debating whether or not to argue, but then he nodded and walked out.
