Violet’s POV
Kylie screamed and dropped to her knees.
She looked as though she wanted to kill me with her gaze. But
Asher had already rejected her. She had to accept it.
“I, Kylie, accept your rejection.” she sobbed in tears.
I didn’t feel so thrilled about this. Kylie was just the victim as I
was. So I went to kneel in front of her and said, “It is OK. It will get
better.”
But she shoved me aside roughly. The hatred in her eyes were
obvious.
“You have ruined my life!” she cried, her body shaking. “Now I
have lost everything. My mate, my husband, my healthy
wolf.are you happy now?”
I looked to Asher asking for his help, “We need to take her to the
hospital.”
He nodded and carried her up, dashing out of the door. I followed
right behind him.
It was the afternoon of weekend, and a lot of the members were
on the street. They shot daggers at me as we came through and
looked sympathetically at Kylie.
A sad feeling surged up in me. Did they think I was the third
woman in their marriage? But Asher was my mate. I didn’t steal
him from anyone.
It was so sad that none of these people really knew me, even
though this was my home. If I hadn’t left for 5 years, things might
have been different.
We came into the hospital and let a doctor take Kylie. Minutes
later, my family burst into the waiting room. Clearly they had
heard about what happened to Kylie.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Jayden barked at me as soon
as he came in.
I looked at him coldly. Jayden had pretended to care about me
ever since I came back. But whenever something really
happened, he sided with Kylie without any hesitation.
“Don’t be so mean Jayden,” Michael said.
“I agree with Jayden. She shouldn’t be here.” Philip chimed in and said, “Kylie’s life miserable enough because of her. I don’t want
her here to make thing worse.”
His words stirred up the negative emotions in this room. Mom
suddenly pushed everyone aside and went at me, tears streaming down her face.
“You have ruined Kylie!” she screamed at me, “My baby girl.my
gorgeous daughter. She was getting better, but as soon as you came back, everything became the worst. Why do you have to come back?!”
“You asked for it!” I couldn’t help but screamed back at her, “You begged for me to come back for Kylie’s sake. Everything is about Kylie with you! Can you think about me for once? I am your daughter as well!!”
Mom covered her face and wept, “Kylie is the one lying in the hospital right now.“”
“And whose fault is that? If you haven’t forced me to give up on my mate and give him to Kylie, none of these would happen. And
look at us now, the mate bond is killing us both. So don’t blame
me for ruining anything. This is all your doing!”
I saw Asher’s face grew dark from the corner of my eyes. This
was the first time he heard the full truth.
I had wished we would sit down and talk this through peacefully. But the truth just slipped out the worst way possible. I guessed
you couldn’t plan anything.
“Wait.” Jayden looked around, just as confused. “What are you
talking about? Is this for real?”
He looked at Michael, who gave him a nod.
“Mom, you did this?” Jayden cried out in disbelief. “Are you out of
your mind? You can’t trick the mate bond like this!”
“But Kylie.she was in so much pain at the time,” Mom buried her
head onto my dad’s shoulder and sobbed. “She said she wanted to
marry Alpha Asher. That was the only way she could make it
through.And what was I supposed to do? Ignore her only need?”
Dad patted mom’s back in silence. Her expression told us that he
agreed with mom’s approach.
I spoke up in shaky voice, “Kylie was in pain, and I was the same.
Hell, I suffered and struggled for 7 years, much longer than Kylie
ever did! Why do you always look over my pain?”
Jayden grabbed his hair, a tortured look on his face. He glared at
dad with angry tears, “I have guessed it before but I couldn’t bring
myself to believe in it.How could you dad?! How did you sleep at
night?”
Jayden always viewed my dad as his role model. Ever since he
was a child, he vowed to be as great a Beta as dad did.
It must be heartbroken for him to find out that his role model
wasn’t so perfect after all.
“Everything we did was for Kylie’s sake!” dad said lowly.
Jayden raised his voice and talked over dad, “Don’t use Kylie as an excuse for your distinct partiality! Violet is your daughter
too!”
I let out a sneer. I guessed they had forgotten that I was their daughter a long time ago. Maybe to them I was just a stranger to them.
Suddenly we all heard clapping.
Asher was clapping his hands looking at us with a twisted smile.
on his lips.
“Great job. All of you,” he gritted, his eyes gleaming madly. “You
took my life and tore it apart however you wanted it–YOU!”
He glared at me. I shook my head in tears, begging for me not to continue. But he did anyway:
“You were my best friend, my mate. But you chose your family
over me and left me in pain for 7 years.”
He then turned to my parents, gritting, “And you two sick bastards. How dare you do this to your Alpha!”
His Alpha aura swept across the room. Everyone winced in fear. I
didn’t have a wolf, so I was less intimidated. But I was just as
freaked out by the crazy look on his face.
“You will all be punished for ruining my life. Get ready for it!” he
growled.
