I scoffed, shaking my head. “While you’re right about one thing,
I don’t want to see you. I’m so damn tired of everyone
pretending that what we’ve been through is just some normal
hardship to overcome. It’s not normal, Philip. Not even close.”
He exhaled, taking another step into the room. “I think you
have every right to feel the way you do. You’ve been carrying
the weight of this entire Pack, dealing with betrayal,
heartbreak, and gods know what else. And what did you get in
return? More suffering.” He gave me a half–smile, one that
didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Honestly, it was about time
someone told the Seer she was full of shit.”
Despite my frustration, I let out a short laugh. “You’re not
wrong there.”
“But that’s not why I’m here.” His expression turned serious, his
gaze unwavering. “I need to talk to you about Kylie.”
Just hearing her name made my stomach twist.
“Of course you are,” I said, my voice laced with sarcasm.
“Because every conversation we have eventually leads back to

her.”
“You don’t understand.”
“No, Philip, I do understand.” I stood, staring at him. “She was your sister, and you loved her. I get it. But what you don’t understand is that while you all were grieving her, I was
grieving too. Not for the person she was, but for what I lost. I thought she was my twin, my blood, someone who had my
back no matter what. But I was wrong.” I turned to face him,
my voice trembling. “You all thought I hated her so much that I
had her killed at my own convenience.”
His jaw tightened. “I never wanted to believe that, but things
spiraled out of control. It was easy to blame you. That’s why I
wanted to talk it through today!”
“Of course, it was easy.” I folded my arms. “I was the outcast.
The unwanted replacement for the sister you adored. You left
me when I needed you most, Philip. And that told me
everything I needed to know about where I stood.””
He ran a hand through his hair, looking more frustrated than I
had ever seen him. “I know you think I chose her over you,
but-”

“You did.” I cut him off, my voice sharp. “And I made peace with
that. But don’t stand here and act like we can fix this with an
apology.”
Brian let out a shaky breath, his shoulders slumping. “I never
wanted to lose you, Violet.”
“But you did,” I whispered. “And maybe that was inevitable.”
Silence settled between us, thick and suffocating. I could see the
regret in his eyes, but it wasn’t enough.
“Mom was right,” he finally said. “You’re pushing everyone
away. But we just want to help.”
I let out a bitter laugh. “Mom, huh? I’m surprised you’re
defending her after everything she’s done. It’s ironic how easy it
is for you to forgive other people.”
“It doesn’t matter what I call her,” he replied. “At the end of the
day, she’s still our mother. And whether you like it or not, she
proved herself when she saved Michael.”
My breath hitched. “Saved Michael?”
Philip nodded. “He was going to be executed. She intervened.”

For the first time since this conversation started, I was
speechless. I wanted to believe this was another manipulation, but something in Philip’s voice told me otherwise.
“First of all, Michael was never going to be executed,‘ I said.
“And secondly, the Celestine flower is not going to be destroyed if it means putting my baby at risk.“‘
I didn’t wait for him to respond because a realization had come to me.
“So that’s what this is about,” I murmured. “You came here to make sure I destroy the Celestine flower so Michael can live freely. That’s what this is really about, isn’t it?”
“That’s not-”
“Don’t lie to me, Philip!” I snapped. “You came to apologize because you think you can manipulate me to save Michael again. You don’t give a damn about my baby!”
Philip face twisted with something between anger and guilt. “Of course your child matters to me,” he defended, but I could see through him.
“No, you just want me to solve everything for you like I always do,” I muttered. “That’s why I want to leave this place. I am

“He’s my brother, Violet, Philip shot back. “I can’t just sit by and watch him lose his wolf and freedom. That’ll kill him”
