Chapter15
Asher’s POV
Violet’s mother swayed in fear.
“Alpha Asher, please!” she cried, “I never meant to hurt anyone. I just thought I was doing the right thing.please forgive me.”
I glared at her. Forgive her? Never. That was 7 years of my life separated from my mate. I was determined to make these people hurt.
Her father held his wife’s arm and steadied her. He seemed calmer as thought he was prepared for this.
“I knew things would get exposed one day. And you will be furious when the secret comes out. So I am ready for any
punishment you have in mind,” her father said calmly.
He was my beta before Jayden took over, a very helpful and
steady man. I never guessed that he would be a part of such a ridiculous thing. Maybe his wife clouded his judgement.
“Great,” I said sullenly.
“Alpha Asher!” Jayden blocked my way, saying in a pleading
voice, “Please.they are my parents.”
“They knew what they were getting into!” I growled.
I hated them for taking away my mate. I hated them even more for hurting Violet. My children would never have to go through the kind of injustice that Violet experienced. I would treat them all equally, including little Mia.
I held Violet’s hand and gave one last glance at her sick families, “Just wait for your retribution. Let’s go babe.”
Violet nodded in silence. Her eyes were misty, but she fought not to let any tears fell.
“This is it, mom and dad,” she said to her parents quietly. “I have done enough for this family. From this point onwards, you can consider me dead. And I won’t ask for your love anymore.”
She turned and left the room without looking back.
She was always so strong in front of those people trying to hurt her. I was so proud. Her tough personality would make her a great Luna. Not her twin sister Kylie. Kylie was too weak to be standing by my side.
We left the hospital holding hands. She peeked at me a couple of times. I knew she had something to say.
“Asher, about what just happened-”
“Not now.” I cut her off.
She bit her lips, a hurtful look on her face. Then I went on to explain myself, “Werewolves have great hearing. Too many ears around us right now. I don’t want any more rumors. We are at
war now.”
I rejected Kylie. The whole pack knew that their Luna had been replaced. I had already heard some ridiculous rumors about how Violet stole her twin sister’s husband. I could sense people’s hostility toward Violet.
I needed to hold a meeting to address those rumors. Before that, I didn’t want to give people more stuffs to gossip upon.
We went back to the packhouse looking for Mia only to find that she wasn’t there anymore. The guard on duty told us that Mia
went to Elena’s house and wouldn’t come out.
“She wants her parents. Oh that poor thing,” Violet sobbed in
tears on our way to Elena’s house. “I just hope there is a way for
me to talk to her. She shouldn’t handle the sorrow herself. She is
too small for that kind of trauma.”
“You have done a great job so far. Let’s try to talk to her together,”
I comforted her.
The kid was in her parent’s old bedroom, hiding under a blanket.
Violet tried to lift the blanket, but the child screamed and
wrapped herself in it even tighter.
“Mia, you want to stay here with your parents, right? You must really miss them,” I softened my voice and asked.
She stayed quiet.
“But your parents are right by your side. They will always be there in your memories.””
The child stirred, then pulled the blanket back a little, revealing a pair of eyes watching us.
Violet added, “If you want to see them, you can always look up to
the sky. The brightest stars are your mom and dad. They are
watching you all the time.”
“But the stars only come out at night.”
This was the first time I heard Mia say something after the
funeral.
Violet and I exchanged a surprised and glance, and Violet said,
“Then we will be with you during the day. We would love to take
care for you, Mia.”
The little girl studied us for a long moment. Then she nodded,
pointing a small finger at me, “Dad told me that you are my godfather.”
She looked back at Violet, “And you are my godmother.”
Violet burst into joyful tears. She pulled Mia into her arms and hugged the kid tightly, “Yes, we are. So we would do anything for
you. You can trust us.”
Mia nodded slowly. Then tears started to pour out of her eyes. She sobbed, telling us how much she missed her parents. I let out a relieved sigh internally. At least now she was willing to let us
- in.
Just then, I received a mindlink from Jayden:
“Alpha Asher, you need to see this,”
I looked at Violet. She mouthed me a word “go.” I nodded and
quickly stepped out of the room, leaving her with Mia.
As soon as I was out of the packhouse, I switched and dashed to
the place Jayden told me. When I arrived, I found a crowd of
soldiers gathered around something that smelled awful. The
stench spread far, making people sick.
“What the hell is this?” I walked over.
The crowd parted for me. And I saw a pile of werewolf soldier’s
bodies with a note lying on top.
“Fuck!” I cursed.
These were the soldiers that I went to the front line to spy on the
rogues. Those scumbags killed my men and fucking send their
bodies back to me.
“You haven’t seen their message yet,” Jayden said sullenly,
handing me that note.
-You’re nothing but a weak puss, hiding in the shadows. You can’t even protect your soldiers and you dare call yourself an
Alpha? Face me like a real leader or submit to us on your knees.
Bring your army, let’s settle this once and for all.-
“Fucking rogues!” I growled shredding that note into pieces.
