Asher’s POV
I had given Violet a sedative, mixing it into the blood to make
sure she would sleep tightly. It worked–she was in a deep sleep, her body completely still against the sheets, her breathing slow
and steady. She wouldn’t wake up anytime soon.
I hated doing this, keeping her in the dark, but I needed to fix
this before she knew it. If she found out what I was about to do,
she would have insisted on coming with me. And that was not
an option.
I turned to Philip, who stood by the door waiting.
“Let’s go,” I said. Without another word, we slipped out of the
palace and disappeared into the night.
The Blood Red Bar sat on the outskirts of the neutral zone,
buried deep in the shadows where no laws applied. It was the
kind of place where people went looking for things they
shouldn’t–curses, magic, death. Philip and I both had to mask
our scents before entering the bar.

The moment we stepped inside, a blast of heavy EDM music pounded through the air, shaking the floor beneath our boots. The stench of blood, sweat, and something rotten clung to the space. Dim red and purple lights flickered overhead, casting
eerie shadows across the crowd.,
Vampires lounged in dark corners, their glowing eyes tracking every movement. Some sat with rogues, exchanging drinks that smelled too metallic to be alcohol. The whole place reeked of
spilled blood and smoke.
“I hate this place.” Philip stood beside me and said in disgust.
“We aren’t here to celebrate, Philip. Just a quick task, and we
are good to go.” I said while scanning the room.
Then, Our eyes locked onto a tall figure at the far end. He
wasn’t just another vampire lurking in the shadows–he was
someone important.
Every few steps, someone approached him, exchanging hushed
words before slipping away.
When we looked at him, his gaze quickly locked onto us.
Although brief, only a few seconds, our eyes met. Then,
without hesitation, he turned to the bartender, muttered

something under his breath, then changed course smoothly,
heading toward an exit different from the main one.
Philip and I exchanged a glance.
“That’s our guy,” I murmured.
Philip nodded. “Let’s follow him.”
We moved through the crowd, unnoticed. The vampire we
trailed didn’t seem in a hurry, walking through the back doors
of the bar and into the desolate alleyway behind it.
As soon as he stepped into the darkness, Philip tensed.
“He’s leading us away on purpose,” he whispered.
“I know,” I replied, my voice just as low. “Let’s see where this
goes.”
The vampire stopped abruptly and turned, his glowing red eyes
locking onto mine. A slow smirk tugged at his lips.
“Did you really think I wouldn’t notice I was being followed?”
His voice was smooth, but laced with amusement.
Philip growled lowly beside me. “We’re not here for trouble.

Just information.”
The vampire chuckled. His gaze shifted to me, narrowing
slightly, and then his smirk widened. “Ah. the Alpha King
himself is looking for some information. This just got
interesting.”
I didn’t react. “What do you know about vampire curses?”
“Curses?” His brows lifted. He tilted his head, studying me.
“Now, that’s not something a wolf usually comes sniffing
around for. Especially not an Alpha. What exactly are you
looking for?”
I stayed silent.
He let the pause stretch before humming. “Curses don’t just come up in casual conversation, Alpha. So tell me–what’s got the
King of wolves chasing ghosts?”
“That’s not your concern.” My voice was cold. I can’t answer this
question. If word spread that Violet was cursed, the entire pack
would spiral into panic. Enemies would take advantage,
alliances would shift.
“Is that so?” His smirk didn’t waver, but his eyes darkened slightly. “Then what makes you think I’ll talk? Information isn’t

I stepped forward, “Then let me make this simple. You tell me
what I want to know, or you won’t leave this alley in one piece.
That would be much worse than any curse, you know!
“Tsk. And here I thought the Alpha King would be smarter than
this.” The vampire sighed, shaking his head. He snapped his
fingers.
Shadows shifted. A dozen figures emerged, their glowing eyes
locking onto us. The vampire took a step back, his smirk
turning razor–sharp.
“You should’ve known better, Alpha. In my world, asking the
wrong questions has consequences.”
“That depends.”
“On what?”
“If you have enough men to stop me.”
Philip shifted slightly, his stance widening, ready to attack.
“Stay sharp,” I murmured under my breath. “Vampire blood is
toxic. If they cut you, it won’t heal.”
Philip’s lips curled into a snarl. “Then I’ll just make sure they don’t touch me“”
And within seconds, Philip lunged over the nearest vampire,
taking him out in an instant.
Chaos erupted.
Philip moved like a force of nature, ripping through the vampires with deadly precision. He was usually controlled, but tonight, he fought like he had something to prove. His rage over Violet fueled him.
I didn’t need to shift. While Philip tore through them, I grabbed one of the remaining vampires by the throat and slammed him against the wall.
“Clean this up,” I ordered Philip, “but leave this one.”
Philip didn’t hesitate. Within moments, the alleyway was nothing but smoldering ash.
I turned back to the vampire in my grasp. His fangs bared in
defiance, but he was barely breathing.
“Now,” I said, tightening my grip. “We can talk well.“”

I shoved the vampire toward Philip. “Lock him up in the dungeon. We’ll deal with him later!”
Philip nodded, gripping the vampire by the collar. We didn’t
have time to waste. Violet would wake up soon, and if she sensed anything off, there’d be questions I wasn’t ready to
answer.
Without hesitation, we stuffed the vampire into the trunk and slammed it shut. Then, without looking back, we got into the car and drove off, pushing the speed limit as we raced back home.
By the time I returned, the first light of dawn seeped through the curtains. I stepped into the chambers quietly, shutting the door behind me.
Violet lay curled up under the blankets, her breathing slow and
steady. But her face was pale, her body too still. She looked
weaker than before. It was evident that her health wasn’t getting any better.
Then, she stirred.
Her lashes fluttered, and a small frown appeared on her face as she stretched slightly. Her eyes blinked open, unfocused at first,

“Asher, you come back. Wait, why do you smell like blood?”
“Ah, it must have spilled a little when I had my blood drawn last
night. “I lied without hesitation.
She kept looking at me for a while like a sleepy person.
Although her health was declining, but her senses were still
sharp.
Just when I thought she was about to notice something
unusual, her expression changed and her hand shifted. She
grabbed my wrist and guided it to her stomach. “Asher” Her
voice was barely above a whisper, with a little excitement. “The
baby’s moving.”
I froze.
Beneath my palm, a faint but steady rhythm pulsed against her
skin. A heartbeat. Small, but strong.
My throat tightened. Everything I had done last night–it was for
this moment.
“This is the first time I’m feeling the baby,” she whispered, her
voice filled with quiet awe.

I let out a slow breath, pressing a kiss to her forehead. “The baby seems completely healthy.”
She nodded. For the first time in days, I saw a hint of peace in her expression.
I brushed my thumb over her hand. “You gotta get more rest

her.
After that, I headed to the dungeon. I had arranged to meet
Philip here. When I arrived, Philip was already there, standing
over the barely breathing vampire we had captured.
He turned when he saw me. “Asher. He’s ready to talk.”
“Good.” I stepped closer.
The vampire let out a weak chuckle. “You wolves are
persistent.” But I ignored him.
“Tell me what you know!’
