Violet’s POV
Asher’s first speech was a resounding success. He stood tall,
addressing the gathered crowd. His words were firm and
unwavering.
“As the new king, I will not shy away from the truth. I killed my
uncle–the man who once sat on this throne. It was not an easy
decision, but it was a necessary one. This family, this kingdom,
was being poisoned from within. I will not tolerate conspiracies,
deceit, or corruption. I despise the very idea of it.”
The room was deathly quiet. It was like people had stopped
breathing all together. I saw people flinching, fear obvious on
their faces, but Asher continued without pause.
“The price I paid for this throne was not just the blood of my
uncle. It was the blood of my parents. The former Alpha King
burned down my house and murdered my parents. That’s what
brought me to challenge him. I stand here today not as a man
who inherited a kingdom, but as one who has fought for it with
everything I have.”

The room was silent, too silent.
It wasn’t like our pack, where murmurs of agreement or
disagreement were common.
Here, in the royal packhouse, everything was still.
There was no whispering, no noise. Just silence.

I glanced around at the tensed faces in the crowd. They were
watching Asher closely, some with admiration, some with fear.
But I could tell–they feared him more than they admired him.
It was a stark difference from the environment I was used to.
Back home, the members respected their leaders because they
were trusted, loved.
Here, respect was born out of fear and power.
Asher’s voice softened slightly, “As your King, I promise to lead
this pack back into the right track. And with time, I hope we
can build trust.”
They replied to him with silence again. The air was so thick
with obedience and submission that I felt hard to breath.
God, I did sincerely hope this suffocating environment could

change under our lead.
Once the speech ended, we took our oaths.
Standing side by side, I felt Asher’s hand on mine, steady and
warm. I glanced sideways at him. His face was still solemn and
serious, but there was a hint of smile in his eyes.
We had come a long way to be here. Not long ago, I was still a
waitress with no wolf, no mate, and living in a half–basement.
Yet now, I was a Queen, standing by the side of the most perfect
man in the world. Everything felt like a dream.
“I, Asher, by the will of the people and the strength of my heart,
swear to lead this kingdom with honor, with wisdom, and with
strength. I will protect this land, its people, and its future.”
His voice rang through the hall, every word loud and powerful.
“I, Violet,” I began, my voice slightly more shaky than his, “by
my bond to Asher, swear to stand by his side as Queen, to guide
him in all things, and to serve this kingdom with the same
strength and honor.”
The people bowed to us. Instantly, I felt the rush of
responsibility flood my veins. The urge to protect, to defend
this place. I had never felt more connected to anything in my

life than I did in that moment. This was the bond that a Queen
had to her kingdom.
An elder stepped forward, “King Asher, if you may choose your
Beta.”
Asher didn’t hesitate. His gaze turned to Philip.
“Philip,” Asher called upon his name, “From today onwards,
you will not just be my brother, but my greatest help in leading
this kingdom.”
Philip strode forward immediately. His face was radiating with
joy and pride as he bowed, “I won’t let you down, King Asher.”
I couldn’t help but feel a swell of pride. Philip had earned this
position, and I knew he and Olivia would make an excellent
Beta couple. Philip had all the skills, loyalty, and wisdom.
Although Olivia was a bit young and careless, she is a people’s
person and the members would love her.
The ceremony ended soon and dinner was served. As we sat
down, I couldn’t help but notice the meal. The roasted meats,
fresh bread, and fragrant herbs…the amazing scent filled the
air. My stomach rumbled in response.
“This is incredible,” I complimented sincerely, picking up a fork

and cutting into a piece of lamb. “Whoever prepared this is an
artist.”
One of the kitchen maids stepped forward, smiling shyly.
“Thank you, Your Majesty. It’s an honor to serve you.”
“We’ve spent all day preparing for your arrival. We wanted to
make sure the meal was perfect,” echoed another kitchen maid.
I smiled warmly at them, “Well, you certainly succeeded. This is
amazing. Thank you for your hard work.”
They both blushed, their faces lighting up with joy. I knew the
former Queen was harsh with the servants, and that’s
something I wanted to change.
“It’s our pleasure, Your Majesty.”
The relaxed and pleasant atmosphere lasted throughout the
dinner. People no longer sat in deathly silence. They started to
engage conversation with their neighbors, and I could hear
chuckles from time to time.
I let myself enjoy the food and the company of my new
members. Everything was going perfect when Asher’s phone
buzzed. And so did Philip’s.

He answered it. A few seconds later, I noticed his jaw tighten as
he listened to whatever message had come through. His
expression darkened, and I saw Philip stand up, his face
growing serious as well.
“Is everything okay?” Olivia asked, her voice with concern.
Asher didn’t answer right away. He simply looked at me, his
expression somber, “I need a moment alone with you, Violet.
And you, Olivia and Philip.”
Perplexed, Olivia and I stood up and followed them into the
King’s study. What’s so urgent that we couldn’t even wait till
the end of the dinner?
Once the door was closed behind us, Asher wasted no time.
“Your father,” he said, his voice heavy. “He’s… dead. He took his
own life.”
The words hit me like a physical blow.
A gasp of shock froze in my throat, my mind struggling to
comprehend.
My father…committed suicide?

I had never been close to him–he had always been distant, a
figure I resented for his absence in my life. But he was still my
father. The only blood relative I had known.
Olivia covered her mouth, her eyes wide with shock, “But
how…when… My god…”
Asher’s face was grim. “We don’t know all the details yet, but…
we must follow our tradition.”
In our kingdom, tradition was that those who take their own
life must be buried immediately. No questions, no mourning.
There was a heavy silence. My mind raced, but no words
seemed to come.
Finally, I found my voice again. “I… I don’t know how to feel.”
If it’s my mother, I wouldn’t even shed a single tear for her. But
it is my father.
I once hoped that maybe we could find a time to fix our
relationship in the future and maybe return his masculinity
back to him.
But now everything was too late. He was gone.
