Days passed by, and my belly grew bigger each day.
John took care of me with the utmost attention, practically doting on me. Every day, he had the chef prepare different delicious meals for me, doing everything he could to make me happy.
“Wendy, how does this bird’s nest porridge taste? I specifically asked the kitchen to add your favorite almonds.”
John looked at me with anticipation.
I glanced at it carelessly and deliberately frowned: “It seems a bit too sweet.”
As soon as John heard this, he immediately became nervous and quickly had the servants take it away:
“Alright, alright, I’ll have them remake it right away with less sugar.”
“Wendy, what would you like to eat today? I’ll have the kitchen prepare it for you.”
He carefully draped a coat over my shoulders, afraid I might
catch cold.
