Chapter 12

Back then, I would crouch beside him, looking up earnestly.

“Julian, I researched this aromatherapy candle. The fragrance helps you relax and soothe your mood. It’s good for your condition.”

But Julian only found the smell in the air annoying.

He always got angry when people mentioned his autism.

Especially when every promotional video for his history lectures emphasized “autism” as an attention-grabbing gimmick.

It seemed like my marketing strategy.

In Julian’s eyes, the Cross family was utterly profit-driven and shallow-they’d do anything for money.

I had absolutely no right to enter places like his study.

In this moment, Julian looked down, his thoughts blurred. He broke off the last bit of candle with his bare hands, walked straight out of the study, and looked at the housekeeper.

“Where did she go?”

The housekeeper quickly shook her head. “I don’t know…”

Julian unconsciously bit his tongue until he tasted blood, which cleared his mind slightly.

Meanwhile, Emma was still lost in the ecstasy of the divorce.

She picked up the divorce certificate from the floor, constantly stroking her pregnant belly, then immediately embraced Julian.

“Julian, when should we get married? Or should we pick a baby name first? From classical poetry-what do you think?”

Julian stood there unmoved.

His eyes were hollow, emotionless, as he calmly broke free from her embrace.

Emma didn’t notice and tried to hold him tighter.

Suddenly, Julian grabbed her wrist with tremendous force. Emma couldn’t move at all.

Julian slowly emphasized, “Get rid of it.”

“What?”

Emma thought she’d misheard. “Julian, what did you just say?”

“I said, get rid of it.”

Julian looked down at her slightly swollen belly as if it were already a corpse.

Emma immediately protected her stomach.

“Julian, you’ve lost your mind! This is your child! You and Diana never had children in seven years. Isn’t it good that I’m having your baby?”

Julian’s gaze was cold. “If you have it, she’ll be unhappy.”

“Who?”

Emma suddenly realized. “Diana? Julian, she divorced you! You have no legal connection anymore. How could she be unhappy?”

Something in those words enraged Julian.

He suddenly grabbed Emma’s throat tightly. “You’re lying! Diana would never leave-she’s just throwing a tantrum!”

Emma felt suffocated, her vision going blank.

Chapter 12

Julian had lost all reason.

She tried to pry his hands away but found them immovable.

Finally, estate security rushed in, pulling Julian away and letting Emma escape, stumbling and falling to the ground.

The red marks on her neck were strikingly visible.

As she tried to stand, she suddenly felt warm liquid beneath her-

The housekeeper’s shocked voice echoed: “Oh no, she’s bleeding!”

But Julian showed no reaction. Like someone who’d lost his most precious treasure, he kept repeating my name, finally staring fixedly at the blood on the floor.

Right, blood.

Julian suddenly stopped.

He remembered-I was always most afraid of him getting hurt.

When he was first diagnosed with autism and self-harm tendencies, I stuck close to his side every day like his shadow.

Anyone could see the panic and worry in my eyes.

Now Julian looked down at the pen on the desk.

He calmly picked it up and stabbed it hard into his wrist.

Blood splattered instantly-

The housekeeper’s eyes widened in panic. “No! Call a doctor! Mr. Julian is trying to kill himself!”

Julian’s gaze remained downcast.

Not enough blood.

Maybe I wouldn’t care enough.

He pressed his lips together, grabbed the pen again, and stabbed harder until the bodyguards restrained him.

Pain quickly reached his brain.

Julian’s temples bulged with veins. Maintaining his last bit of composure, he stared at the housekeeper and gave broken commands:

“Call Diana… find Diana…”

The housekeeper nodded frantically. “Yes, I’ll video call her right now!”

The tablet quickly showed the video call connecting.

Julian stared at the screen without blinking.
