Chapter 18

Imma crouched on the ground, completely naked, tirelessly and enthusiastically pleasing Julian.

While the usually reserved and cold Julian sat at his desk, his face slightly flushed, his gaze vacant.

Julian’s eyes widened.

He instinctively explained, “It was drugs! Emma drugged me.”

“What kind of drugs? Performance enhancers?”

I looked at Julian sarcastically. For the first time, I realized that the husband I’d loved deeply for seven years was nothing but a psychologically immature

coward.

Perhaps Emma had used despicable tricks.

But undeniably, Julian had enjoyed it, hadn’t he?

I mocked coldly. “Did she force you into bed? Or are you going to tell me you ‘accidentally got her pregnant too?”

Julian wanted to continue explaining.

I didn’t want to listen anymore.

I looked at Gideon and said wearily, “Please take him out.”

“Alright.”

Without hesitation, Gideon pressed the intercom to call security upstairs.

Julian instinctively looked at Gideon’s face, pressed his lips tightly together, and finally said coldly, “What about him? What is he to you-just a substitute?”

Gideon froze.

Standing in front of Julian, he looked like a pale imitation.

They looked so similar that anyone would think I was using Gideon to heal the emotional wounds Julian had caused.

The room fell into silence.

Everyone was waiting for my answer.

I remained silent for a moment, not responding immediately.

Julian gradually relaxed, his heartbeat calming down. He glanced at Gideon with that familiar condescending look.

Julian believed that my few days with Gideon couldn’t compare to our seven years.

However, just as he was about to walk toward me, I finally spoke.

“Julian.”

My voice was soft but firm. “I originally thought that when facing Gideon, I would imagine your face or pretend he was you.”

“But I didn’t.”

“Actually, before marrying you, I briefly dated Gideon. The reason for our breakup was simple-it looked like I’d fallen for someone else and been caught, but in reality, your personalities were so opposite that I couldn’t connect him with you at all.”

At this point, I looked up, staring sharply at Julian.

“So do you understand? Every second I’ve been with Gideon, I haven’t thought about you. Not even for one second.”

In the past, I’d fought so hard for this marriage.

Chapter 18

Even though pullan was tired of me, I desperately tried to maintain that undignified marriage, as if persisting meant winning.

But later, I discovered the truth.

I was wrong.

Divorce was liberation for me. At least now, I no longer felt inferior and pitiful because I loved Julian.

I looked up.

My eyes were exceptionally clear: “Enuna is pregnant, Julian. If you have any heart left, you should be at the hospital taking care of her, not playing the victim in front of your ex-wife.”

I paused, my tone becoming somewhat harsh.

“You’re thirty years old, Julian. You’re not young anymore.”

After I finished, security arrived and escorted Julian out.

I stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, watching Julian move sluggishly down the street, unsure whether I felt satisfaction or bitterness.

But in that moment, I realized something:

Everything was over.

Even the deepest pain would eventually pass.

I blinked, suddenly turned around, and embraced Gideon.

I greedily absorbed the warmth from his body.

I closed my eyes, inhaling the cedarwood scent that belonged to Gideon, and realized: I didn’t actually like the bergamot fragrance.

I had just gotten used to it.

Goodbye, Julian.

Forever.
