Chapter 6

While I was dealing with severe pregnancy symptoms and carefully trying to maintain his cold rules, Aiden had been bending over backwards for another woman-Vera. He’d even become the center of everyone’s gossip about office romance.

Vera wasn’t just coincidentally assigned to Alden’s team-he had actively “requested” her. The spare key, office access, schedule changes… every detail mocked the pathetic nature of my nine-year marriage.

I’d always thought Aiden’s principles were his bottom line, his character, but the truth was, they only applied to me. I just wasn’t special enough.

I closed my eyes, my fingertips ice-cold, yet I calmly saved screenshots of all the key messages. Then I clicked on the name at the top of my call history-Dad.

The call connected, and Dad’s steady, gentle voice came through: “Tina? What’s wrong? It’s quite late…”

“Dad,” my voice was unusually calm, as if I were stating a simple fact. “Dad, I accept your offer. I’ll divorce Aiden and marry the heir of New York’s West family.”

“Aiden is having an affair with another woman and hiding it from me. I’m even carrying his child, and today, he went too far.”

The phone was silent for three seconds.

“Alright.” No questioning, no hesitation, no blame for my impulsiveness-Father simply said firmly, “It’s okay.”

Your mother is right here. We’ll handle everything immediately. Are you home now? Are you safe?”

Yes, I’m at home, in my room.” My eyes immediately reddened. My parents’ trust and support were the only warm shield I had at this moment.

Take care of yourself and the baby, don’t worry about anything else.” Dad’s voice carried determination. “I’ll contact a lawyer for you. For the specific details, we’ll come to you to handle them. Now, lock your door and get some rest.”

Okay.”

hung up the phone, feeling much more settled. I opened my contacts and found a name that had been pinned for a long time-Vera.

sent a brief message: [Nice photos. Seems Aiden’s exceptions aren’t limited to line-cutting and free ride services.]

knew sending this message would catch her off guard. But only this way could I see more of the truth.

clicked send, silenced my phone, and placed it face-down on the nightstand. Then I lay down, forcing myself to sleep.

‘omorrow, there would be a battle. Now, I needed to gather strength-for myself, and for this child in my womb who might never have the chance to be born.

seriously underestimated how quickly the situation would escalate.

efore 7 AM, while I was still sleeping, I was awakened by urgent, frantic doorbell ringing and pounding, accompanied by sharp, piercing shouts and curses.

Tina! You heartless bitch! Open the door! Open it! Don’t think you can hide from me!”

My son works so hard to support the family, giving you good food and clothes, and you dare mention divorce? Are you seeing someone else?!”

Little slut! Come out and explain yourself!”

You want to abandon Aiden? You think you can get his assets? I’m telling you, no chance! This house belongs to my son! None of you can take it!”

instantly woke up, my heart racing wildly from the shock and sudden awakening. It was Aiden’s mother-Grace. That selfish woman with the loudest voice!

[ad Aiden already told her? Or had he sent her as his first line of defense?
