While I was dealing with severe pregnancy symptoms and carefully trying to maintain his cold rules, Aiden had been bending over backwards for another woman-Vera. He’d even become the center of everyone’s gossip about office romance.
Vera wasn’t just coincidentally assigned to Alden’s team-he had actively “requested” her. The spare key, office access, schedule changes… every detail mocked the pathetic nature of my nine-year marriage.
I’d always thought Aiden’s principles were his bottom line, his character, but the truth was, they only applied to me. I just wasn’t special enough.

“Dad,” my voice was unusually calm, as if I were stating a simple fact. “Dad, I accept your offer. I’ll divorce Aiden and marry the heir of New York’s West family.”
“Aiden is having an affair with another woman and hiding it from me. I’m even carrying his child, and today, he went too far.”
The phone was silent for three seconds.
“Alright.” No questioning, no hesitation, no blame for my impulsiveness-Father simply said firmly, “It’s okay.”
Your mother is right here. We’ll handle everything immediately. Are you home now? Are you safe?”
Yes, I’m at home, in my room.” My eyes immediately reddened. My parents’ trust and support were the only warm shield I had at this moment.
